ITV Coronation Street ‘rumble’ Lauren baby twist in ultimate Joel revenge
Coronation Street's Lauren Bolton has made a shock comeback this week and Tuesday night saw the previously missing character drop a huge baby bombshell
Coronation Street’s Lauren Bolton made a shock comeback on Monday.
Weeks on from a brutal attack by Joel Deering, which Weatherfield residents still don’t know about, Lauren, who was believed to be dead, was revealed to be alive as she headed to the hospital to visit Roy Cropper after he suffered a heart attack weeks on from him being wrongly imprisoned for Lauren’s ‘murder’.
And things only got more explosive on Tuesday’s episode when Joel confronted Lauren at the hospital, forcing her into a family room and pleading with her not to reveal all about what happened. As violent and evil Joel went to lash out again, Lauren protected her stomach revealing she was five months pregnant with his baby in a huge bombshell.
The episode ended with Lauren managing to escape the hospital and fleeing in a taxi, as Joel set chase to cover his tracks. Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to react to the scenes with some soap watchers predicting a potential twist as revenge on Joel.

Some fans wondered whether Lauren could be faking her pregnancy in a bid to expose Joel. One person said: “Omg she’s pregnant with Joel’s baby or is she or she just playing him #corrie”, a different account put: “Has Lauren tried adjusting the fake pregnancy belly? #Corrie” while another questioned: “She’s pregnant?!?! #Corrie…”
It comes as actor, Calum Lill, who plays Joel, exclusively told The Mirror about his plan for Lauren: “I think he was making his plan up as he goes along to get her out of there and away from Weatherfield. Maybe pay her off. Once he saw the baby [bump]… Joel is not a serial killer. He just lashed out. I don’t think he wanted to kill her but get her away and pay her off.”
Meanwhile, actress Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren, went to great lengths to keep her huge soap return a secret. Cait told how she had to hide in the boot of her co-star’s car to ensure she wasn’t spotted when filming her return scenes. “I had to sneak in and out the building, getting lifts from Calum but having to get in the boot to make sure I wasn’t being seen,” laughed Cait, 22.
“People would be at the front getting selfies, I’d be in the boot still. So it was a bit chaotic! It was like a massive game of twister in that boot, it was tiny. There were times when I had to get on the floor in a taxi, the driver was wondering what’s going on – and I’d just shout go go go! It was mad. Fun but mental. I never thought I would have to be doing that to get into work.”
