Coronation Street icon Channique Sterling-Brown has warned that fans will be left ‘tearing their hair out’ over what’s still to come for Dee-Dee Bailey following the reveal that Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) is still alive.

Not only that, but she’s also pregnant with Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) baby.

The truth was finally revealed last week when Lauren returned to apologise to Roy Cropper (David Neilson) but was caught by Joel before she could leave.

Through a series of flashbacks, viewers learnt what really happened between them in the build up to Lauren’s disappearance.

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee and Joel are currently engaged, and the truth about what Joel has been up to is sure to rock Dee-Dee to the core.

‘It’s going to be a lot to take in and a lot to process,’ Channique told Metro.co.uk at the Radio Times Soap Awards.

‘And I’m really excited for the fans to see that, because I do think that she’s absolutely in love with this man, but as we know she’s got a very strong moral compass.

‘I just think this new chapter is going to be really… I think people are going to be tearing their hair out! But I think they’re still going to enjoy it!’

Whether or not Dee-Dee and Joel will get as far as the aisle remains to be seen, though Channique is keen to be involved in a Coronation Street wedding.

‘I’d love to have a Corrie wedding!’ She enthused.

‘The dresses, the lot, it would be wonderful. So, we’ll have to see!’

However, when we shared our theory that the couple wouldn’t get as far as marriage because Dee-Dee wouldn’t want to be called Dee-Dee Deering, Channique revealed that Corrie had already thought of that, but the scene had been cut.

‘We had a scene where we addressed Dee-Dee Deering and it got cut! Dee-Dee Deering… We said it would be Dee-Dee Bailey-Deering. But we’ll see what happens in terms of whether it actually happens!’

Will Dee-Dee ever get to become Dee-Dee Bailey-Deering, or will the truth come out long before then?
