Corrie’s Mason brutally attacked by mystery culprit as return to cobbles confirmed

Coronation Street bully Mason Radcliffe will be back in the ITV soap next week - but things take a dramatic turn for him when he sets foot back on the cobbles

Corrie’s notorious bully, Mason Radcliffe, is set to make a shocking return, and it doesn’t look promising for him.

The character, portrayed by Luca Toolan, first made his appearance on the cobbles last year, stirring up plenty of drama. Viewers were left appalled as they witnessed him torment Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) young son, Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall).

Mason also managed to manipulate Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) into joining him in bullying Liam, much to the dismay of Dylan’s father, Sean Tully (Antony Cotton). The plot took a dramatic twist on the ITV soap when Mason threatened Liam with a knife.

After months of tormenting his peers, Mason earned quite a reputation both within and outside the school premises. Things escalated to such an extent for Liam that he contemplated suicide.

This left his mother Maria in a state of constant fear and paranoia, keeping a close eye on Liam’s every move. The soap veteran even installed a camera in their home and insisted on not letting him sleep alone.

However, in April, Mason was sent to a Young Offenders’ centre for threatening Liam with the knife. During the court trial, Dylan courageously confronted Mason, testifying against him.

But next week on the soap, the bully is released from the Young Offenders’ centre – however, things quickly take a dramatic turn for the youngster. Spoilers for Monday’s Coronation Street episode (July 22) reveal that a nervous Dylan starts a shift at Speed Daal – but Mason’s release is weighing heavily on his mind.

However, Stu (Bill Fellows) is gobsmacked when he stumbles upon a bloody and battered Mason by the precinct. Later in the week, Dylan is left reeling as his worst nightmares unfold before him when he’s confronted by a fuming Mason.

Chatting with the Manchester Evening News on the glitzy red carpet at the RadioTimes.com Soap Awards, actor Luca spilled the beans on whether viewers will get to see a new facet to Mason’s character.

“A little bit. Corrie haven’t been unrealistic. They’ve not turned him into an angel overnight. They’re more highlighting and playing the story of why Mason is the way he is…” he dished out.
