Anxious Toyah in Coronation Street gets major update on cancer battle in hospital

Tense times await Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) this coming week in Coronation Street as she heads to the hospital for an update on her possible cancer diagnosis.

Recently in the ITV soap, Toyah took a pregnancy test after feeling unwell. It came back as positive, which left her and Nick (Ben Price) with the mammoth prospect of becoming parents after their one-night stand.

Unfortunately, when Toyah was at the hospital, a doctor confirmed the test was actually a false-positive. She discovered there’s a chance she might have ovarian cancer, and the pregnancy test wasn’t accurate because the illness altered it.

In the middle of all of this is Leanne (Jane Danson). She has no idea her sister and partner slept together because she’s been so caught up in The Institute. Essentially, Leanne thinks it’s a self-help group, but Nick and Toyah know it’s a corrupt organisation.

Coming up, Leanne tries to speak to Rowan (Emryhs Cooper) about an article but he manages to pull the wool over her eyes. Despairing at Leanne’s naivety, Toyah heads off for her hospital appointment all alone.

When she gets there, Toyah is taken aback when Nick turns up to support her.

In the new spoiler video, they head into the appointment, ready to see the consultant together, but what will the results be for Toyah?

‘Interestingly, I think there are genuine feelings and certainly this is what [executive producer] Iain [MacLeod] told Ben, Jane [Danson] and I – he described it to me as love story’ Georgia told us, describing Nick and Toyah’s connection.

‘It was very much, not just quick sex!’

She added: ‘Actually, weirdly, they’ve developed a real emotional connection and I think it started when Nick was the first person Toyah told about Rose and he was very gentle with her and understanding, and gave her the support that Leanne maybe didn’t.

‘I think it was when she saw a different side to Nick because prior to that, there’s just been a little bit of tension between them and historically, they really didn’t get on but she’s seen a different side to him, and that side is appealing.’
