Corrie favourite ‘revealed’ as culprit who set fire to Stefan’s office – and it’s not Jack

Coronation Street fans are convinced they have worked out who started the fire at Stefan Brent's office - and it's not Abi or Jack Webster, as some have been led to believe

The mystery of who started the fire in Corrie resident Stefan Brent’s office has been ‘unveiled’ – and it’s not Abi or Jack Webster.

Stefan (played by Paul Opacic) recently made a comeback to the soap, years after his son Corey (Maximus Evans) was imprisoned for the murder of Abi’s son Seb (Harry Visinoni). Recently, Abi (Sally Carman) was left shocked by a documentary portraying Corey as a football star while he’s behind bars.

Abi attempted to halt the documentary but things spiralled out of control when videos began circulating online featuring Abi in what appeared to be a sex tape. However, it was later revealed that the woman in the clips wasn’t her and they were actually deepfakes.

Along with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell), they are convinced that Stefan is the mastermind behind the videos. Kevin even broke into Stefan’s office last month, trying to find proof that he was responsible for the deepfakes.

He managed to swipe a burner phone during the break-in – but things have taken a turn for the worse recently. During Monday’s episode (July 29), Stefan tricked Abi and Kevin into believing he wanted to bury the hatchet, reports the Express.

While Abi and Kevin went out to meet Stefan, unbeknownst to them, he had arrived at their house – with only Kevin’s son Jack at home. Stefan sweet-talked his way into the house and ended up taking back the burner phone.

Upon their return, Abi and Kevin were livid to discover Stefan had been in their house and taken the only piece of evidence they had. But things soon took an even more dramatic twist.

Later on, the coppers rocked up at Kevin’s garage, with Weatherfield’s very own Craig Tinker (played by Colson Smith) dropping the bombshell that Kevin was arrested on suspicion of burglary of Stefan’s property.

After getting released from the police station, Kev legged it back to his place, only to find Abi saying she needed a bit of me-time and was off out.

A bit later, Abi swanned back in to see Kevin eyeballing a news piece about a recent blaze at Stefan’s office. Abi couldn’t muster up a shred of concern, which left Kevin suspicious.

While loads of fans reckon it’s either Abi or Kevin’s lad Jack who torched Stefan’s office, some armchair detectives reckon another much-loved local might be the firestarter.

Hitting up social media some viewers suggested Kevin’s sis Debbie (the legendary Sue Devaney) was the one who lit the match.

On a Corrie fan page on Facebook, the theories were flying, with one sleuth posting: “I thought Jack but it could also be Debbie.” Another added: “Good call maybe Debbie she’s quite funny.”

A third penned: “Too obvious for Abi definitely Debbie.” And backing up the Debbie theory, someone else piped up: “Debbie or she got someone to do it!”
