Coronation Street fans were left utterly confused after a Ken Barlow storyline gaffe.
The ITV soap aired on Wednesday (August 15) and featured Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) back in action, tending to the needs of Weatherfield’s stalwart Ken (William Roache).
As avid viewers will remember, Ken took a nasty tumble not long ago, leaving him in need of a carer to look after his injuries. But with the price tag for professional care too rich for the Barlows’ blood, they opted to bring in Cassie, who, despite her lack of official credentials, had some experience caring for a former beau.
Cassie has since been playing nurse to Ken, all while a spark seems to be igniting between her and Ken’s son-in-law Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
However, it was another recent episode that had fans up in arms, spotting a glaring error that had them claiming the “writers forgot.”
Towards the end of the show, Cassie appeared, donning an apron and brandishing a tray of grub for bedridden Ken. Bumping into Steve in the corridor, she mentioned she’d whipped up a chicken casserole for Ken, reports the Liverpool Echo.
This left eagle-eyed viewers perplexed, as they quickly remembered Ken’s vegetarian ways. They flocked to social media to air their disbelief.
On a Corrie fan group on Facebook, one viewer wrote: “I thought Ken was vegetarian! ! ! !”. Another chimed in: “Why was Cassie taking Ken Chicken casserole, he’s vegetarian or vegan.”
A third fan pointed out a blunder, posting: “The writers forgot Ken is a vegetarian.” Another joined in the confusion, commenting: “I was thinking to myself. Isn’t Ken a vegetarian. Hmm, chicken casserole. I want answers.”
