ITV Coronation Street Joel Deering downfall ‘sealed’ as BBC Doctors star joins the cobbles

One familiar face on Doctors will be joining the Coronation Street line-up as Joel Deering's secrets are being thrown out in the open. And the newcomer shared their debut date.

A Doctors actor has announced he's due for an appearance on Coronation Street

Time is running out for Joel Deering but one newcomer will change everything as a Doctors actor has revealed he’s due to make a guest appearance in Coronation Street.

The devious duty solicitor portrayed by Calum Lill has been running out of lies to tell as his fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) recently discovered what he had done to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

But while she has been trying to take him down, Joel has found ways to avoid comeuppance by most notably claiming that Lauren acquired abortion pills in an attempt to kill her unborn baby Frankie.

Yet with the villain set to leave Weatherfield, a new character has been thrown into the mix to help Lauren finally get justice as actor Alex Frost has announced he’s due to join the ITV soap’s line-up.

Known for his roles in The Reckoning and series 19 of the BBC medical drama Doctors, Alex recently took to social media to tell his followers about his upcoming stint and viewers of the Manchester-based programme won’t have to wait long for his debut. “My first episode of my guest role in #CoronationStreet #Corrie begins in 2 weeks’ time on Monday 2nd Sep at 8 pm on ITV”, he wrote as The Sun reports. “I got to act alongside my good friend @nickharrisinsta and the brilliant Channique Sterling-Brown. Let’s see what happens.”

While Alex shared no details about his upcoming storyline, the mere mention of Dee-Dee actress Channique Sterling-Brown may be enough to suggest that he may be involved in her efforts to bring Joel to justice. Fans have shared plenty of theories online about Joel’s potential downfall but in recent scenes, Dee-Dee Bailey took action to protect Lauren as he successfully avoided facing the music.

Released without charge earlier this week despite Lauren telling the authorities everything he had put her through, from the financial abuse to the sexual coercion, Joel crawled back to Dee-Dee with one plea: “Take me back.” Unfortunately for him, Dee-Dee had finally seen his true colours and was not about to change her mind, despite him trying to convince her he had no evidence of Lauren’s claims on his phone.

Booted out with bin bags filled with memories and his belongings, jilted Joel ran to the police station once again, claiming that Dee-Dee and Lauren had made up a story to incriminate him. While DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) was sceptical, it was clear that the scorned woman narrative could work in Joel’s favour in a court of law, prompting Dee-Dee to hatch a plan to finally catch him red-handed.

Determined to stand by Lauren’s side and bring her justice, Dee-Dee revealed she could also play dirty and installed a tracker on Joel’s phone, allowing Lauren to feel safer. Over on X, otherwise known as Twitter, viewers of the Manchester-based programme shared their thoughts as they tried to rumble how Joel’s downfall would take place – and Dee-Dee stood out to them as the one and only character able to take him down.
