When Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) gave into their feelings and kissed each other in the flat in Coronation Street, they failed to realise someone was taking a picture of them.
The man turned out to be working for cult leader Rowan Cunliffe (Emryhs Cooper). When he saw Nick and Toyah kissing, he knew this would be the perfect tool to manipulate them both.
After this, Nick debated whether he wanted to dump Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) so he could be with Toyah. Eventually, he agreed with Toyah when she said they should prioritise Leanne and forget about their affair, fearing she would be drawn further into the cult if otherwise.
Nick put his feelings for Toyah aside because it seemed as though Leanne was seeing the light over Rowan’s corrupt organisation.
When they sat down to dinner and discussed their plans for the next day though, Nick was left wondering if he made the right decision when Leanne prioritised an important meeting with Rowan over spending time with her partner and Sam (Jude Riordan).
Next week, Leanne meets up with Rowan and, while he’s on a call, decides to snoop through his laptop. She comes across a file named ‘Leanne’ and another named ‘Nick and Toyah’.
Towards the end of the week, Leanne summons Nick to the Bistro for a confrontation – but what has she discovered?
‘I think the penny just drops, she thinks oh my God, Toyah was right, Toyah’s been chomping at the bit for months saying Rowan’s dodgy, there’s something off, and Leanne has just put it down to Toyah always wanting a campaign and a fight’, Jane Danson explained to us.
‘For a moment she’s truly sorry, it looks like Toyah was right and she’s been blinded to it all. She feels awful for the way she’s treated her but then she opens the file and that changes everything.’
‘Initially she just thinks I’ve found this file, Toyah was right, he has been following us all’, she added, explaining Leanne’s reaction to finding the Nick and Toyah file.
‘She’s about to delete them with the intention of getting rid of everything and then curiosity gets the better of her. She’s one click away from finding out everything but Rowan’s also on his way back into the room.
One click could cause everything to come crashing down but it’s whether he gets to her first.’
