CORONATION Street fans have slammed Beth Tinker’s “rushed” exit storyline as the character leaves the cobbles for good after 13 years.

Lisa George, who plays Beth, confirmed her final scenes in the soap will air on Friday, but fans aren’t happy as they claim the soap is rushing to wrap up her storyline.

Details of Beth’s full exit storyline have only recently come to light as her secret side hustle scheme comes to a head.

Previously, she roped Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) into helping her. They all made knock-off t-shirts at the factory behind the back of Carla Connor (Alison King).

They were almost caught out when Kirk (Andy Whyment) accidentally put the wrong box into the delivery van.

Kit (Jacob Roberts) and her son Craig (Colson Smith) then caught her in the act of trying to sell the stock.

Although Craig thinks the scheme has come to an end, Kit covered up her crime and wanted a cut of his own.

Kit then blackmails Beth and issues her with a surprise ultimatum; he wants her out of Weatherfield by the end of this week, or Craig’s career in the force will be over.

And it seems Kit will get his wish as Lisa, 51, is officially leaving the soap.

However, Corrie fans aren’t happy with how abruptly this all played out.

Voicing their criticism of the storyline on X, formerly Twitter, one viewer said: “This Beth exit feels SO rushed…it’s awful.”

“Really bad writing with this Beth exit… they might as well have pulled a trap door on her,” agreed another.

A third chimed in: “now they’re just shoving her off within the space of an episode.”

While a fourth said: “I’ve never been a fan of Beth, but this exit doesn’t sit right with me.”

After 13 years on Corrie Lisa is leaving to pursue other opportunities, including starring as Fairy Godmother in the Cinderella pantomime at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon later this year.

Appearing on This Morning on Wednesday (August 28), Lisa admitted it feels “strange” to be leaving the soap and that Friday will be her last scenes.

She told hosts Craig Doyle and Sian Welby: “It’s just strange. I don’t think it’s sunken in yet. I don’t think it will until I am not on screen anymore.

“Friday will be my last scenes, and you know I think it will start to sink in then.”

Reflecting on her 13 years at Corrie, the star said: “You know what, it’s just gone so quickly. It’s like ‘Was that really 13 years ago?’ That’s incredible.

“It just flies by because you are in a different world. You are in the Weatherfield bubble.”

Beth arrived on the cobbles with her son Craig, and looking back on her first scene Lisa gushed: “Oh look at Colson, he has changed so much, actually. I mean, I don’t think he spoke the first few years and now look at him.”

Lisa opened up about her exit on This Morning earlier in the week
