‘Another blunder!’ fume Coronation Street fans as they call out soap bosses for ‘rewriting Nick and Leanne’s history’
The couple have been married twice before and are set to head down the aisle a third time.
CORONATION Street fans have called out soap bosses for a blunder after ‘rewriting Nick and Leanne’s history’.
Last week, Leanne – played by Jane Danson – proposed to partner Nick (Ben Price) on Valentine’s Day after learning he had planned to pop the question to her.
While Nick said yes, he hesitated before later telling his brother David Platt that he had considered saying no.
Tensions had been high between the couple – who have been married to each other twice before – in the run up to the proposal due to Leanne’s son Simon Barlow’s drinking.
His boozing had caused him to crash a car while driving Nick’s son Sam, and Leanne kept the truth from Nick.
During last night’s episode, a scene saw Nick talk about how he had been with Leanne for “30 years”.
However, die-hard Coronation Street fans quickly pointed out that that was not the case.
While Nick has been part of the show since 1981, Leanne didn’t arrive in Weatherfield until 1997.
The couple tied the knot for the first time in 1998, but for many, Nick’s latest comment didn’t add up correctly.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “Nick has been on and off with Leanne for 30 year’s, the battersbys didn’t arrive on the street until 1997 how does that work out, unless I’m wrong.”
Another added: “Another history blunder. nick said him and Leanne had been together for 30 years. Classic Corrie at the moment is 2004. Nick hadn’t even met Leanne. He was dating Maria. And was
@adamrickitt.”
However, they were corrected to some extent by another fan who wrote: “They eloped in 1998 which, granted, isn’t 30 years ago.”
The viewer then replied: “I didn’t remember that. I joined Classic Corrie when Nick came back on his own and dated Maria and Candice.
“Leanne is probably about to come back as the new Baldwin’s arrive soon (Bradley Walsh eps).”
