Corrie Carla and female resident’s fling ‘confirmed’ after huge clue – and fans are buzzing
Coronation Street fans are convinced that Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain are going to get together after the pair shared a charged moment during Monday's visit to the cobbles
Coronation Street seems to have confirmed a romance between Carla Connor and another female character.
Viewers will remember that Carla (played by Alison King), who made her debut on the ITV soap in 2006, was left devastated earlier this year when her marriage to Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) ended as he departed the cobbles.
Carla’s life took a further hit when her friend Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was arrested for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Although Roy was eventually released and it was revealed that Lauren was still alive, the drama didn’t stop there.
Amidst all the chaos, Carla has been growing closer to DS Lisa Swain (Lisa Meyers), the detective sergeant working on Lauren’s case. With Lauren back on the cobbles and Lisa determined to catch the real culprit behind her disappearance, Joel Deering (Calum Lill), Carla has shown sympathy towards the stressed detective and mother, Lisa.
She even offered Lisa’s daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) a work experience opportunity at the Underworld factory. This has led fans to speculate that a romance could be brewing between Carla and Lisa.
The soap seemed to confirm these suspicions during Monday’s episode (September 9), where Swain brought Carla in for questioning after Betsy admitted to seeing Carla knock a troublesome boy off his bike last month before driving away, reports the Liverpool Echo.
However, Betsy teased Lisa and Carla about being on a ” date”, a suggestion that Lisa dismissed as “ridiculous.” Yet, Carla’s blushing and lip-biting seemed to confirm her feelings.
Fans were quick to notice the moment and took to social media to share their thoughts. One viewer posted: “Carla looks so chuffed at the idea of having a secret affair with Lisa I’m obsessed.”
Another fan commented: “The little lip bite then Carla smiling! ” A third added: “It’s the little things that really make a character or a scene. The soft smiles, the lip bite. Just natural reactions.”
One more chimed in: “Lisa is definitely drawn to Carla and definitely fancies her. Carla is definitely drawn to Lisa and feels there is a connection between them. Can’t wait.”
A fifth declared: “Carla’s face at the thought of a relationship with swain (her smile). Lisa losing focus when Carla walked in. The lip bite (if you know you know). Basically parenting Betsy together. Carla looking Lisa up and down. Lisa looking Carla’s file up.”
