Romance could finally be on the horizon for Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw, after actor Gareth Pierce teased the return of love interest Moses Ekundayo (Michael Fatogun).

The pair briefly dated last year after Moses was introduced to the ITV soap in a guest capacity as Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) personal assistant.

However, their relationship was cut short when Moses lost his job and moved to London following a complaint from Paul’s mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove).

Gareth has now suggested Moses is now set to return to the cobbles after Corrie boss Iain MacLeod previously said last year’s fling could lead to something ‘long-running later on’.

In a new interview with Digital Spy, the actor – who took over the role of Todd in 2020 from original actor Bruno Langley – said: ‘We tried to instil as much spark as we could in that short-ish time that the characters were together.

‘What Iain said is that it’s got potential for Moses to maybe feel like the one that got away.

‘So whether that does swoop back around at some point, I think there’s definitely a sense that we want to play a relationship story with Todd at some point in the near future.’

Gareth added: ‘There have been references to the fact that he’s getting on now. Todd is going to be 40 in January next year, so there’s been the odd reference to “still living at home, nearly 40”.

‘I’m definitely interested in what’s next for Todd and I’m assured that there’s stuff to come.’

Speaking last October, shortly before Moses’ introduction, Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy: ‘There’s a dalliance for Todd, but it arrives at quite a poor time. And the person with whom he has the connection is probably not ideal in terms of the situation that Todd meets them in.

‘At this time, it’s only a little test drive of his relationship with this person. It’s not very long running, but we thought that if we like what we see, it might go on to be long-running later on.’
