Coronation Street fans left shocked that stars are real life mum and son
Coronation Street fans were shocked to have only just discovered a mother and son duo appeared on the ITV soap.
The cobbles has seen its fair share of real-life family members gracing Weatherfield including real life cousins Brooke Vincent and Ellie Leach, and brothers Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) andTommy Orpington (Matt Milburn).
Fans were surprised by a mother and son duo that appeared on the soap years ago. Back in 1985, actress Sue Jenkins joined the cast as Gloria Todd.
And her real life son Richard Fleeshman also made a cameo as Craig Harris.
The teen became Rosie Webster’s (Helen Flanagan) first crush. The plot thickened when Craig’s sister Katy Harris shockingly killed their father after an explosive row over her secret romance with Martin Platt.
Their mum Angela Harris tried to cover for Katy, but Katy ended her life after being consumed by guilt.
Craig latermade plans to run away to Berlin with Rosie but ended up leaving Weatherfield on his own, bidding farewell to the street in 2006.
This comes after Richard revealed he is expecting his first child with his actress fiancée.
The Craig Harris actor took to Instagram to share a video posted by fiancée Celinde Schoenmaker, which showed her walking into frame towards their pet cat Luna, with a visible baby bump.
Richard and Celinde got engaged while on safari in Africa in 2022, with Richard being the one to pop the question.
‘Went to Africa with my girl. I’ll be heading home with a Fiancée,’ he revealed at the time.
Best known for playing Craig Harris on the ITV soap from 2002 to 2006, Richard was involved in several iconic storylines, including one that saw Craig and Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) become goths.
Since leaving the street, Richard has taken to the stage, starring in the West End and Broadway productions of Ghost: The Musical. He has also taken on roles in Legally Blonde and Sondheim’s Company.
In 2022, he starred in Netflix series The Sandman, and has since gone on to appear in Death in Paradise and The Ark, among other projects.
