Bethany was given life-changing news after waking up from a dodgy surgery and a colossal hospital bill to pay. But Corrie viewers have figured out how Daniel will step in.
Another betrayal is looming on the horizon after Bethany Platt was told by her mother Sarah she would have to wear a stoma bag for the rest of her life.
Bethany (portrayed by Lucy Fallon) recently jetted off to Turkey after accepting a job Debbie Webster had recommended her but, during her trip, she decided to undergo a liposuction and contracted sepsis after the procedure.
Daniel Barlow (Rob Mallard) was the first one able to join her in hospital, where she remained in a coma, before Bethany’s mother Sarah (Tina O’Brien) arrived in Turkey during this Wednesday’s (September 25, 2024) instalment of Coronation Street.
Distraught, Sarah was also fuming at Daniel as she’d found out she could have resolved her passport issues and got to Turkey much sooner – if he had only turned his attention away from his ex Daisy Midgeley to pick up the first phone call from Bethany’s phone he received.
Furious, particularly as Daniel seemed too engrossed in his own image to even ask for an update on Bethany, Sarah ordered him back to Weatherfield. And to top it all off, the Platts received a staggering bill of £15k to pay, due to Bethany’s procedure being a last-minute decision her travel agency did not include in her plan.

Bethany eventually woke up from her coma, with Sarah sitting at her bedside and Daniel long gone, but the infection had made considerable damage, particularly to her stomach.
The mother-daughter duo engaged in a conversation about her reasons behind the liposuction. And when the budding journalist asked more information about the stoma bag she’d awakened with, she was horrified to realise she would be wearing it for “the rest of her life.”
While Bethany’s life has been turned upside down, viewers believe Daniel may soon find a way to alleviate some of her family’s worries as he could steal from someone close to home.
“They will find the money somewhere maybe Ken”, one fan of the Manchester-based programme penned on Twitter, now X. Another echoed: “so that’s Ken’s premium bond win to pay for Bethany’s hospital then.”
Regular Corrie viewers will remember that Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) recent windfall from Premium Bonds has been at the core of much speculation, due to his carer Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) thieving and chaotic past.
But in recent scenes, Ken had made the decision to leave his funds to his granddaughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) after the young woman was scammed out of her inheritance by Rowan Cunliffe. Daniel and Ken’s relationship has been tumultuous throughout the years as the teacher once pushed his own father down a flight of stairs – could their bond be broken again?
Earlier this week, Daniel was seen sharing scenes with his ex-fiancee Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) who confessed she was still harbouring feelings for him in the wake of her breakup with Ryan Connor. Will he run to Daisy for comfort?
