Major update on Rowan confirmed in Coronation Street – and it’s bad news

Rowan on the cobbles in Coronation Street

Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) receives an important update about Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) in Coronation Street next week and frustratingly, the ordeal isn’t over yet.

Leader of a cult called The Institute, Rowan arrived at the start of this year when he met Leanne (Jane Danson) at a hotel. He introduced himself as the host of a self-help group and lured Leanne into the organisation with his charm and manipulation.

Things changed for Leanne a few weeks ago when she found some important files on Rowan’s computer. They confirmed Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Nick (Ben Price) had been having an affair, but also led her to the discovery Rowan had been blackmailing them.

Nick then handed a notebook to DS Swain (Vicky Myers), which was enough evidence to prove Rowan’s criminal activity and have him arrested.

Coming up, Nick explains to David (Jack P Shepherd) that the police have called and Rowan is pleading not guilty to blackmail and fraud, meaning the case will go to trial.

But how will Leanne process this news?

And if she’s asked to speak in court, will she side with Rowan after months of brainwashing from him?

Later, when Sam (Jude Riordan) spots Nick flirting with a customer, he feels troubled. He pipes up and decides to tell the customer that Nick is engaged, clearly missing Leanne.

A plan underway, Sam prepares a romantic meal at the flat in an attempt to get Leanne and Nick back together.

Disaster strikes, however, as he ends up injuring himself during an attempt at opening some oysters.

Sam calls on Asha (Tanisha Gorey), who takes him to hospital to have stitches.

But how will Nick and Leanne react when they discover what he’s been up to?
