Coronation Street death ‘sealed’ before Helen Worth exit – but it’s not Gail Platt

Coronation Street could air a sad death in the coming weeks if the past is anything to go by.

It was recently revealed that Gail Platt would be leaving the ITV soap this year, with actress Helen Worth quitting the show after 50 years. Now, new spoilers have teased she could face death as she’s rushed to hospital next week.

But it’s not Gail who could be killed off in the coming months ahead of her final scenes. Instead, she could face yet more heartache amid another wedding for the soap icon.

The Mirror exclusively revealed Gail was set to wed once more ahead of her departure. But is tragedy about to strike for her once more amid a series of heartbreak where Gail’s partners are concerned?

As soon as fans of the show learned a love interest was coming in for Gail, they began to speculate they would end up in a bodybag. Long-time viewers of the show know Gail has not had the best luck where romance is concerned, with Martin Platt being the only husband still alive.

All of Gail’s other spouses have been killed off over the years, as well as some former flames too. So given Jesse Chadwick could be Gail’s next husband, will he meet an eerie fate too?

Gail’s first husband Brian Tilsley was stabbed to death in heartbreaking scenes in 1989. Then there was serial killer Richard Hillman, who died after trying to drown the whole family in 2003.

Further tragedy hit when her husband Joe McIntyre tried to fake his own death only to actually die in 2010. Then there was Michael Rodwell, who suffered a heart attack and was left to die by evil Pat Phelan in 2016.

There was also a moment with her mother Audrey Roberts’ partner Lewis Archer. He too died, in 2019, after collapsing at him following chest pains.

So given Gail’s doomed marriages and the tragedy of her past, is it any wonder viewers are speculating new lover Jesse will end up the same way? It comes amid speculation he’s using Gail for her money, with spoilers teasing he might have stolen cash from Damon Hay.

Next week the accusations lead to a row with Gail’s children, but it takes a sad turn when a stressed Gail is left in agony and fearing for her life. Spoilers for next week reveal that an escalating row breaks out between Jesse and Gail’s children David and Sarah Platt.

Gail has enough and snaps at them and she urges her kids to get out of the house. As it all gets too much for her, she takes a turn for the worst.

Sarah and David are convinced Jesse is up to no good and might be out to get Gail’s money. But they are forced to push their concerns aside next week when their mother is taken ill.
