Coronation Street spoilers: Panic as young Sam Blakeman is rushed to hospital following car crash

Sam plays a chess tournament in the bistro in Coronation Street

A selfish mistake from Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) puts Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) in hospital during next week’s episodes of Coronation Street.

This week, Simon will agree to driving Sam to a chess tournament, despite being over the limit after a party.

They set off but disaster strikes when Simon ends up crashing into a pole. When he later confesses that he was over the drink-drive limit, Leanne (Jane Danson) is horrified.

As a new week begins, Sam plays chess with Roy (David Neilson) before school, but Roy is left bemused when Sam struggles to make a basic move.

Meanwhile, Simon tells Nick (Ben Price) that he’s sorry about the car and Nick assures him it was an accident.

Later, when Kevin (Michael Le Vell) lets slip that the car repairs were nothing to do with the brakes, Nick’s suspicions starts to grow.

At school, as Hope (Isabella Flanagan) wanders down a corridor, she finds Sam unconscious on the floor and calls out for help.

Sam is rushed to hospital, where Leanne tells the doctor that Sam was involved in a car accident, forced to admit to Nick that the brakes weren’t at fault, she lied to protect Simon as he’d been drinking and was over the limit when he crashed.

As a guilty Simon takes responsibility, Sam discovers later in the week that he’s moved out.

When Leanne finds her son on a bench in Victoria Garden, she realises he’s been there all night.

Simon pours his heart out, telling her that Nick’s right, he’s a waste of space, he drinks too much and is turning into his Dad.

But how will Leanne react?
