Coronation Street’s Kit star Jacob Roberts’ heartache after splitting from girlfriend of five years
Coronation Street actor Jacob Roberts, who plays Kit in the soap, split from his girlfriend Amy Harris after five years - with the couple removing all trace of each other on social media
Coronation Street’s Jacob Roberts, who plays Christopher “Kit” Green, split from his PR executive girlfriend Amy Harris earlier this year after a five-year relationship. The 33-year-old soap star sparked break up rumours in June when he wiped all traces of Amy from his Instagram, a move that Amy reciprocated, seemingly confirming their separation.
They were often spotted at glamorous events and intimate dinners, with the reason for their split unknown, reports OK!. Their surprising split comes after Jacob’s role on Hollyoaks as Damon Kinsella, which he held until 2023 before being axed in a dramatic series overhaul.
Since then, he’s been causing a stir on Coronation Street, playing a key role in the mysterious Lauren Bolton disappearance and Joel’s murder plot. Recently, viewers have started to suspect that Kit might be more involved in Joel’s death than it initially seemed, with scenes featuring DS Swain (Vicky Myers) and Kit leading fans to believe they might be implicated, with one of them potentially being Joel’s killer.
A fan speculated on social media: “I’m going full Dee dee style detective with this and I need a life but when Kit and Swain are in Joel’s flat they’re clearly discussing/making sure they have a believable story and are leaving no evidence behind in their cover-up.”
Another viewer suggested: “Rewatched the scenes, when Swain said “Betsy’s involvement changed everything” – she has so killed him/ accidentally killed him.”
Jacob couldn’t contain his excitement about joining the soap, expressing: “It’s absolutely amazing… when I walked on set for the first time it felt a bit overwhelming because the attention to detail is just incredible, it actually makes you feel that you are on a real street.”
He continued by sharing, “My mum and dad are really chuffed too which is lovely. My mum has always watched Coronation Street, I’ve always kept up to date with it too, so it just feels surreal to be here. Meeting all of the cast and crew was great, I really do feel at home here.”
When talking about the character he plays, Jacob revealed: “I’m looking forward to everyone meeting Kit but I do think he is going to be a very misunderstood character at first. He’s been really hurt throughout his life and although he has a good heart, he has some deep-rooted resentment with his biological mum, Bernie, which will be really interesting to play out.”
