Coronation Street confirms Joel Deering suspect who washed blood off the murder weapon
Joel Deering (Calum Lill) has been murdered in Coronation Street, and now a new suspect has entered the frame.
There is no shortage of people who would have wanted the sinister solicitor dead, but a flashback in tonight’s episode left one person as the prime suspect.
Since his arrival on Coronation Street, Joel has made Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) life hell. After grooming her, he attacked her and left her for dead, and let Roy Cropper (David Neilson) take the blame for her murder.
When Lauren was found to be alive and pregnant with Joel’s baby, he took horrifying action and drugged her to induce an early labour.
When Lauren went to the police, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) did everything she could to bring Joel to justice, but unfortunately someone got there first and killed him with two blows to the head.
Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) continued his investigation into Joel’s death this evening by questioning Ed and Ronnie Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges and Vinta Morgan) on their whereabouts on the night of Joel’s death.
Though both Ed and Ronnie insisted they were at home, they later came clean to Dee-Dee Bailey and Debbie Webster (Channique Sterling-Brown and Sue Devaney) about where they had really been.
They admitted that they had headed to Joel’s flat in search of him, but when they got there he was already gone, so they decided to come home.
Dee-Dee appeared shaken by their admission and excused herself from Ronnie’s birthday dinner, though it would later transpire that it wasn’t their movements on the night of Joel’s death that were bothering her at all.
As Dee-Dee broke down, viewers were treated to another flashback which revealed that she had approached Joel on the night of his death – with a crowbar!
Viewers will know that the police believe a crowbar was used to beat Joel to death, which certainly puts Dee-Dee in the frame for his murder.
What’s more, a second flashback later showed her washing blood from the weapon in her kitchen sink.
Did she use the crowbar on Joel, or is there another explanation?
