Coronation Street icon Gail Platt remains in hospital after facing death this week in a horrifying health scare, and some news in a new episode will shock her family
Coronation Street’s Platt family will learn some big news next week that will leave them stunned.
Days on from Gail Platt’s horrifying hospital dash with her shown facing death after a health scare, there’s set to be an announcement that causes further shockwaves. It’s not known what it is, but it comes as poorly Gail remains in hospital.
Jesse Chadwick will share some news to his love interest’s family that will apparently leave them all shocked – but what does he say? The spoiler line, for a scene to air on Monday 28 October, reads: “Jesse has an announcement which will stun the Platt family.”
There is no clue as to what it is about and if it is linked to Gail’s health issues, or her looming exit from the show after 50 years. We know that Helen Worth is leaving the role after five decades, and fans are fearing a death twist for Gail after her hospital dash.
But amid claims she will not be killed off, what does Jesse reveal? Viewers will have to tune in next week to find out, and to also find out how Gail is.
She remained unconscious on Wednesday night after falling ill at home. As Jesse feared she was having a heart attack he called for an ambulance, and she was taken to hospital.

While there, she went into arrest and seemingly had to be resuscitated. Panicked doctors declared she needed urgent medical attention, as she fought for her life.
One staff member was heard shouting: “We’ve lost vitals, she’s gone into arrest.” Soon they began CPR and used a defibrillator to try and get her heart beating normally again. Jesse was tearful as the team battled to save Gail.
Later in the episode as her worried family gathered at the hospital, a doctor confirmed what was wrong with Gail and whether she would be okay. The doctor said Gail was suffering from a blockage in her left main coronary artery.
The blockage caused the issues with her heart leaving her fighting for her life. She revealed Gail would need to have an operation but she was currently stable.
A stent would need to be fitted, with Gail’s family told this would likely go okay – but they did warn their could be complications from the blockage. In the next episode, Gail’s worried family will gather at her beside with tensions running high – but will Gail be alright?
