Coronation Street fan theory ‘unmasks’ Joel Deering’s true killer – and it’s not an official suspect

Coronation Street fans think they’ve worked out who really killed Joel Deering (Calum Lill) – and it isn’t an official suspect.

Joel went missing at the end of September, and his body was found in a river several days later.

With the pathologist confirming that he had died of two blows to the head before hitting the water, police soon launched a murder investigation, led by DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

However, fans think that it was actually Kit himself who was responsible for Joel’s death.

Taking to Twitter/X, Corrie fan Vicky shared a detailed thread explaining her theory as to why Kit was the killer.

She explained how she believes that Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) will believe that she has killed Joel after hitting him with a crowbar, but that Kit actually finished him off and will attempt to pin it on Dee-Dee.

Viewers will remember how a flashback revealed that Dee-Dee had confronted Joel with a crowbar on the night of his murder, before later washing blood off it in her kitchen sink.

Vicky went on to say that she suspects Kit will let something slip to Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), which will end up getting back to Dee-Dee and confirming that she didn’t kill him.

She then highlighted her evidence, pointing out that Kit had previously mentioned that anyone is capable of murder, which she suggests could have been foreshadowing that he killed Joel and thinks he can get away with it.

The dedicated fan also highlighted that Kit is a bent cop, having previously been seen planting evidence at crime scenes.

Elsewhere, Kat also shared the theory that Kit is the man responsible for Joel’s death.

She too highlighted how Kit had planted evidence against Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) and wondered if Joel knew about it, giving Kit a reason to want him dead.

She also pointed out that Kit seems to have a dark side, and confessed that something about him wasn’t ‘adding up’.
