It’s fair to say that, after the last few months of turbulence, Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) has had every reason to have a face like a wet Manchester weekend – but all that changes in Coronation Street next week, as our new spoiler video shows.
Her frown is turned upside down by the sudden reappearance of her on/off love interest Ryan Connor, with Ryan Prescott reprising the role of his popular character after an extended break from the cobbles.
The actor had previously reassured fans that he would eventually return but Daisy had pretty much given up hope on seeing him again.
Daisy and Ryan have been woven into one another’s worlds irrevocably after a horrendous acid attack flipped their lives into chaos forever.
While Daisy was due to marry Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), her closeness to Ryan became something much more and her groom-to-be discovered that they had slept together.
Another complication was thrust into the mix came in the form of Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), who returned straight into the arms of ex Daniel.
The fizzing animosity between Bethany and Daisy will come to a head in coming episodes when an article written by the journalist in waiting exposes Daisy’s dalliances with Ryan in the most salacious way.
Next Friday (March 1) will see Daisy lying miserably on the sofa, telling an exasperated Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) that she doesn’t want to talk – before then ranting about Bethany.
In that classic sitcom scenario of ‘I’ve got something to tell you!’ leading to constant interruptions (oh, you guys), Jenny gives up trying to deliver the news of Daisy’s visitor and lets the appearance of Ryan do the talking.
‘Miss me?’ he asked, to which many a Corrie fan will nod feverishly.
Daisy is even more pleased, as her grin gives away – and they have a lot of catching up to do.
So what has brought Ryan back and what became of his relationship and new life with Crystal?
There is clearly still a spark between himself and Daisy, so will they give things a go?
It’s a busy old episode for Daisy as she also executes her revenge on Bethany, snaking to her boss and getting her sacked from her job.
However, actress Charlotte Jordan insists that it isn’t actually Daisy’s intention to get her rival sacked, although she does take a little bit of satisfaction on delivering some just desserts.
She reasons that all of her previous assumptions about Bethany are true, but Charlotte isn’t ruling out a future burying of the hatchet between the pair.
Before then, Daisy is simply excited to have Ryan back – and what it could lead to.
‘Daisy fully assumes that Ryan is living his best life in Glasgow and is happy with Crystal, so I think this will be a real shock to her system,’ she told us.
‘Daisy feels really isolated, especially from Daniel with Bethany coming back, so losing Ryan to Crystal also left her even more isolated.
‘I definitely think Ryan will be welcomed back into Daisy’s life with open arms!
‘I don’t know how healthy it is but I do think they need to make a go of it so that they can come to the realisation that it may not be that healthy, or maybe it will! So yeah, I would like to see them give it a go and see what happens…’
