Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) was left scared for Sally Metcalfe’s (Sally Dynevor) safety in recent Coronation Street scenes, after an act of violence from Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) brothers.

Tim took pity on teenage tearaway Mason last week, when he learnt that he had been sleeping in their summer house.

Having been unable to find him a place to stay, Tim allowed Mason to sleep on the sofa, on the condition that Sally didn’t find out.

However, when Mason’s brothers, Logan and Matty Radcliffe (Harry Lowbridge and Seamus McGoff) caught Mason leaving, they took the opportunity to rob the place.

When Sally and Tim later returned home, they found their car missing, as well as Sally’s mother’s engagement ring.

This left Tim with no choice but to confess to allowing Mason to kip on the couch, and Sally wasted no time in confronting him about it.

Mason explained that his brothers had forced him to let them into the house, and begged Sally not to call the police.

However, she did anyway, despite Mason’s warnings that his brothers would kill him.

When PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) arrived, Tim jumped in and told him it had been a false alarm, and that they still didn’t know who had stolen the car.

As Craig left, Tim explained to a furious Sally that he couldn’t just drop Mason in it if what he was saying about his brothers was true.

Sally insisted that that was all the more reason to tell the police, but Tim wasn’t prepared to take the risk.

Mason was grateful, and promised to try his best to get the ring back.

Unfortunately, his brothers didn’t take well to his request, and Mason later returned empty-handed, with a busted lip.

Tim sent him off with some money for food, and Sally expressed her surprise that he hadn’t offered him a roof for the night.

However, Tim was adamant that Sally’s safety was his number one priority, and he wasn’t going to do anything that might jeopardise that.

Is he right to be worried?
