Abi Webster (Sally Carman) heads to therapy in Coronation Street soon, but she’s surprised to find someone she knows there as well.
Much-loved character Abi spiralled in the aftermath of Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) traumatic death.
The teen was stabbed by his brother and then found by Abi, who helped with calling an ambulance.
Abi was at the hospital when she learnt that Mason had died as a result of his injuries. This triggered awful memories from when she lost her son Seb, who was killed after being attacked by a gang.
A spiralling Abi then started to experience hallucinations of Seb, and became desperate to protect her other boy Alfie, convinced he may come to some sort of harm.
In upcoming episodes, Abi is back in hospital but this time, it’s to support Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) following his testicular cancer diagnosis. Sadly though, while in the waiting room, Abi realises the environment is too much for her and she runs out.
When Kevin wakes up, he’s disappointed to realise Abi isn’t there to see him.
That is because she is outside in the carpark, completely tormented by thoughts of Mason’s final moments. Suddenly, she spots a gurney with a sheet over it. Abi heads over and pulls the sheet back, but gets the shock of her life in the process.
But what has she seen?
In the week, Abi attends her first therapy session but while she’s there, she bumps into a familiar face.
The session and seeing this character clearly impacts Abi in a positive way, as she later gets home and tells Kevin that her session went well, and she’s now ready to look after him.
It’s a step in the right direction, at last.
