All Coronation Street spoilers for next week as baby emergency rocks family
The Bailey family are set to be rocked by a devastating emergency in Coronation Street next week as Dee-Dee Bailey’s (Channique Sterling-Brown) labour is hit with severe complications.
With her pain initially ignored, nurses later realise that the baby needs to come out immediately and Dee-Dee has to undergo an emergency hysterectomy.
After her harrowing experience, she then has a number of life-changing decisions to make.
Elsewhere, Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) health also takes a worrying turn for the worse while a familiar face spells bad news for Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews).
Monday March 31
At the hospital, Dee-Dee reassures Lauren that Frankie’s stem cell transplant will be a success, but as she does, she’s overcome by pain. Dee-Dee describes her pain to the midwife who tells her to go home and rest. Back at the flat Dee-Dee’s waters break.
In the maternity unit, Dee-Dee sits wracked in pain whilst Ed tries to find someone. When a passing midwife makes an inappropriate remark, Ed and Alya are shocked. A doctor takes Dee-Dee’s blood pressure and confirms she’s suffering from pre-eclampsia and the baby needs to come out straight away.
Still smarting from their row, Daisy tells Daniel that Jenny’s gone too far this time. Christina arrives at the Rovers and Daisy feigns surprise.
As Christina makes her presence felt at the Rovers, Daisy tells Jenny that she’s not sure she can ever forgive her for the awful things she said.
Debbie orders Kevin to get some rest while she looks after Alfie, but suddenly the peace is shattered by blaring music from Mick’s house. Ronnie calls to find Alfie alone in the living room.
Spotting the back door open, Ronnie heads out. He’s horrified to find Debbie lying in the ginnel, dazed and confused.
Cassie admits to Evelyn that she really likes Steve but he wants nothing more to do with her.
Wednesday April 2
The family are finally allowed to see Dee Dee but she appears upset when James says he would like to call the baby Laila. With the boys gone Ed is shocked when Dee-Dee tells him she has had to have an emergency hysterectomy and won’t be able to have children.
Ed implores her to think very carefully about whether she is able to give up her baby. When James finds out, he knows this could change everything.
Lauren visits Dee-Dee to tell her Frankie’s operation has been a success but she is shocked by Dee-Dee’s reaction. As Dee-Dee finally makes her decision about Laila’s future James gets a text that could change everything.
Gemma and Chesney’s friendship with Mick and Lou grows as the new couple offer Gemma their old TV and the use of their roofbox for their trip away with the kids but Mick continues to goad Ronnie who warns Gemma and Chesney to watch their backs as Mick isn’t all he seems.
As Mick heads off Ronnie slashes a tyre on his van but Debbie has seen everything. In The Rovers Mick insists he wants laying fo the work he has done and to the damage to his van as he caught Ronnie on the van’s CCTV.
Kevin is anxious when Abi has to leave him having his chemo session because Alfie is ill at nursery. Julie finds an upset Kevin on the bench outside the hospital and suggests they get the team home together.
Meanwhile and anxious Abi can’t get hold of Kevin and is cross when she realises he was with Julie and didn’t tell her.
A delighted Daisy and Christina continue to reel in Jenny as she reveals she has met a great guy called Dom on the dating app. They up the ante with a bouquet of flowers and Christina sends another message. Daisy worries that very soon Jenny is going to want to meet up with Dom in the flesh.
Thursday April 3
Discovering that Jack got into trouble for fighting at school Kevin bans him from attending the end of term party. During his chemo session Kevin tells Abi he felt he was a bit hard on Jack.
Meanwhile at the precinct Hope and Jack see two e-bikes left by Toyah and Nick. They pay for the scooters and swig on a bottle of booze Hope had in her bag – just as Craig and Jess appear, followed by Tyrone and Kevin.
Jack admits he paid for the bikes with Kevin’s credit card. Tyrone finds a furious Kevin drinking alone in the bistro and the two men lock horns over whose offspring is the worst behaved and who is leading who astray.
As Dee-Dee readies to leave the hospital, a worried Ed arrives carrying Laila in her car seat. She is shocked when Ed reveals what has happened and why he is looking after Laila. At the house Dee-Dee tells Sarah and Alya that her condition was avoidable, it was a result of gross negligence and she intends to make an official complaint. Alya offers to start the process for her.
At No.5, Chesney receives a text from Mick inviting him for a drink and his heart sinks. Chesney meets up with Mick in the Rovers and does his best to mask his anxiety. Later, as Gemma and Chesney settle down in front of the TV, they’re interrupted by the arrival of Mick and Lou armed with beers and snacks.
In the café, Julie persuades Eileen and George to join her for a day out on the East Lancashire railway. Having overheard, Nick and Toyah admire her zest for life.
Having arranged to meet Todd, Theo knocks on the back door at No.11. A nervous Theo apologises for his cloak and dagger approach. As Todd cracks open some beers, Theo starts to relax. Theo opens up to Todd and admits he finds him attractive and they kiss passionately.
Having spent the afternoon in bed, Todd and Theo are loved up. Theo tells Todd that his life is complicated and suggests they keep their relationship on the down low. When they hear George, Eileen and Julie returning Theo runs out of the back door but forgets his coat. Returning later he tells a gutted Todd that today was a one off.
