Coronation Street star Colson Smith has waved goodbye to Craig Tinker after 14 years, and his farewell post has dropped a major spoiler.
The actor announced his departure from the famous cobbles earlier this year, revealing that he’d known for a while that this was set to be his final contract.
It was later reported that his final scenes will see the character go out in a blaze of glory, ultimately resulting in his heroic death.
Now, Colson’s time on set has come to an end, with the actor having finished filming.
Taking to Instagram, he shared a picture of himself sat on top of the Rovers Return sign, expressing his love for the ITV soap in the caption.
However, fans were quick to pick up on a massive spoiler in the photo: The Rovers is up for sale!
Viewers will know that current landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is in significant debt to Carla Connor (Alison King), after stealing £250,000 from Underworld.
With Carla having recently had to fork out for private health care in order to undergo another kidney transplant, she is in need of the money more than ever – and her patience is wearing thin.
Though Jenny has tried every possible way to raise the cash, it appears that she will finally have to accept her losses and sell the pub.
And with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) set to depart in the coming months, could this be a big part of her exit storyline?
Now, the main question is who is set to buy the iconic pub, with fans already sharing their theories.
Taking to Twitter/X, one fan suggested that former landlady Michelle Connor could return to take ownership of the boozer, following the news that actress Kym Marsh has wrapped filming on BBC drama Waterloo Road.
Could they be onto something?
Later this year, Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) is set to return to the cobbles. Having previously worked in the Rovers, could she be set to follow in her mum Stella’s footsteps and buy the pub?
Or, could Carla be set to take the pub from Jenny in lieu of payment, expanding her business empire on the street?
As well as pointing out the spoiler, fans and co-stars alike were quick to share the love for Colson’s post.
‘My little brother forever proud of you,’ former Corrie star Brooke Vincent wrote, while Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon left a broken heart emoji.
‘Love it mate,’ Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland, added.
Colson previously opened up about receiving his final scripts, admitting he was excited to get it done.
‘It feels very real’, he said on the On The Sofa podcast.
‘I think it’s that bit of, I didn’t realise how big of a deal it was, actually getting your last scripts and reading it.
‘It’s quite a lot to process and go through, but I’m excited for the work, I’m excited to play the exit, really, I just want it to happen in a weird way.’
