BETH Tinker is feeling the heat – and this time it’s nothing to do with Mediterranean temperatures finally arriving on the Cobbles.
The factory machinist has been hiding a huge secret from those around her, especially boss Carla Connor (Alison King) – and things are about to come to an uncomfortable head when she risks being caught by the police.
The dramatic plot is building ahead of Beth’s exit from Coronation Street, after actress Lisa George, 51, announced last month she was quitting the soap.
Fans will know Beth has been involved in a lucrative side hustle producing counterfeit T-shirts at Underworld.
But as time has gone on, she has skated ever closer to revealing the ugly truth and pulling others into her chaos.
She’s already been rumbled by newbie worker Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), forcing her to hand over envelopes of cash to buy her silence.
Beth has also involved her police constable son Craig to hide cash from the first consignments.
But the drama never ends – she almost has a heart attack when a box of the fake goods gets mixed up with an official delivery.
Thankfully for her, she retrieves the box of knockoffs and delivers them to her shady contact Sid in the much-used Corrie ginnel.
But that narrow alleyway proves to be her undoing. As she hands over the cash, Craig and his colleague Kit turn up wanting to know why she’s hanging out with a dodgy character.
She manages to bat them away without revealing she is going to make her side hustle her number one money earner.
But when she quits her job and Sid rescinds his offer, Beth finds herself even worse off than before.
Beth has only option – to beg Carla for her old job back, but will her former boss even rehire her?
After the news of Lisa’s departure was revealed, a source shared the plans for Beth’s swan song from the cobbles.
They said: “Beth’s a larger than life character who’s never shied away from a clash.
“Her exit will be as dramatic as she is.”
