Carla Connor discovers Peter Barlow’s painful secret and makes a game-changing decision in Coronation Street
Carla Connor (Alison King) discovered Peter Barlow’s (Chris Gascoyne) painful secret in recent Coronation Street scenes, and made a game-changing decision.
Carla and Peter had a turbulent relationship over the years, and tragically called it quits on Boxing Day 2023, with Peter leaving Weatherfield to start a new life on a yacht.
However, it wasn’t just Carla he left behind, but also son Simon Barlow (Alex Bain), who has been struggling in his absence.
In recent scenes, Simon revealed to Carla that he planned to go and work on Peter’s yacht, and that he would be leaving in two weeks.
Although happy for him, Carla seemed taken aback by his sudden decision – though the shocks wouldn’t stop there.
When Carla and Simon later met for coffee at the cafe, she asked him to show her some pictures from the yacht, but was struck by one of Peter with his arms around another woman.
Determined to find out more, Carla headed over to see Ken Barlow (William Roache), where she masked her curiosity about Peter with concern for Simon.
She questioned Ken over Peter’s state of mind, asking whether in was in a position to be looking after Simon.
When Ken said that Peter was doing well, it threw Carla off. Finally, she cut to the chase and asked about his mystery woman, and was shocked to discover that the whole Barlow family already knew.
Ken insisted that they hadn’t known how to break it to her, though Carla attempted to act casual as she pointed out that they were already over.
It was then that she announced that she had made a huge decision to change her name from Barlow back to Connor, as she continued to insist that she was fine with Peter moving on with someone else.
With Ken unconvinced, Carla admitted that him moving on so quickly had come as a bit of a shock.
Now that Peter has got himself a new woman, is it time for Carla to find someone new?
Although she admitted to Simon that she was happy being single, viewers have been theorising that she may be set to enter a romantic relationship with DS Lisa Swain, with the pair set to confide in each other in upcoming scenes.
