This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

Carla Connor (Alison King) got quite a shock in recent Coronation Street scenes when Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) jealousy got the better of her.

Earlier this week, Lisa was left feeling hurt when Carla failed to acknowledge their romance in public, though the women soon reconciled when Carla explained her position and they agreed not to rush into announcing anything.

However, in tonight’s episode, it became clear that Lisa was struggling with the idea of Carla keeping her a secret, as her insecurities got the better of her.

When Lisa asked Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) what Carla was up to, she was clearly uncomfortable when they revealed that she was dining a dashing client.

Heading to the Bistro, Lisa kept a close eye on the flirty exchange between Carla and her client, growing more concerned with every comment and touch.

As soon as Carla stepped out to take a call, Lisa swept in and gave the client a stark warning to keep his hands to himself, promising to arrest him for sexual harassment if he continued.

Unfortunately for Lisa, Carla didn’t take kindly to her interruption, and demanded to know what she was playing at.

Lisa was quick to defend herself, insisting that she was only doing what Carla should have done, as the man was a creep.

However, Carla was quick to point out that he was actually happily married to a man, leaving Lisa feeling guilty.

Though she tried to apologise, the client stormed out, and Carla wasn’t far behind him as she made it very clear that she wasn’t going to put up with any jealousy or possessiveness from Lisa.

Back at Carla’s flat, Lisa tried to explain that her reaction had been out of character and because she felt like Carla had been giving her mixed messages.

Carla insisted that she had made her feelings perfectly clear, but Lisa pointed out that by hiding away it felt like she was ashamed of them being seen together.

As Lisa explained that she had had a long time to come to terms with her sexuality, she admitted that believed that Carla was still in denial about hers.

Carla was quick to argue that she was not ashamed of being with Lisa, or of her sexuality, but that it was a lot for her to come to terms with and having to deal with gossip on top of that wasn’t what she wanted.

She pointed out that the people closest to her knew exactly how she felt about Lisa, but the detective wasn’t convinced.

She explained that by hiding who she really was, Carla was just playing into prejudices, and that they were both worth more than that.

Have considered Lisa’s point of view, Carla promised to be out and proud going forward, leaving Lisa thrilled.
