Carla Connor’s fear for DS Lisa Swain after unexpected reaction sparks concern in Coronation Street

Carla Connor (Alison King) was left worried about DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in recent Coronation Street scenes after an unexpected reaction from the Detective Sergeant.

Lisa has been avoiding Carla ever since the pair shared a charged moment in her flat several weeks ago.

Though they both agreed to put it behind them and continue their friendship as normal, things have been awkward between them ever since.

In tonight’s episode, Lisa made a swift exit from the cafe after spotting Carla behind the counter, leaving the factory boss visibly disappointed.

However, things seemed to look up when Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) invited her to share a drink with her and Lisa.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap between them, and Carla went back to Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) lamenting about how difficult Lisa was to read.

Later, Carla got another opportunity to try and reconnect with Lisa when she walked in on an argument between her and Dee-Dee.

After breaking it up, Carla joined Lisa at the Bistro, where she admitted to coming on too strong with her questioning of Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).

As Lisa continued to worry about the Joel Deering (Calum Lill) case and letting daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) down, Carla tried her best to reassure her that she was doing a good job.

However, when Carla attempted to give Lisa a comforting hug, she was shocked when Lisa flinched away, before making excuses to leave.

Back at her flat, Carla replayed the conversation, cursing herself for being so complimentary.

When Ryan asked what the problem was, Carla explained how Lisa had reacted, before insisting that the only explanation was that Lisa must hate her.

However, viewers will know that there was a much darker reason behind Lisa’s reaction, as it was later revealed that she was hiding some painful bruises.

In a dramatic flashback, it was confirmed that Lisa was involved in some kind of altercation on the night of Joel Deering’s murder – but has she killed him?
