Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) has been targeting vulnerable pensioner Ken Barlow (William Roache) in a sinister plot in Coronation Street.
After being employed as his carer, Cassie saw an opportunity to fleece him for every penny.
To ensure that he relies on her, she has been drugging his tea with antihistamines to keep him unwell.
In recent weeks, she has taken the next step in her plan to extort him, by stealing his credit card and making expensive purchases.
When Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) discovered a payment for designer hair straighteners on his credit card bill, she was sure that Cassie was responsible.
However, Cassie took vile action by gaslighting Ken into believing that he had bought them for Tracy for her birthday.
When the straighteners later arrived on the doorstep addressed to Tracy, Ken was further convinced of Cassie’s innocence, and even went so far as to invite her to move in.
With 24/7 access to Ken – and his credit card – Cassie continues her plot in upcoming scenes with another cruel move.
She makes out that he was the one who suggested buying it, but will he be so easily fooled?
Later, Cassie takes photos of the air fryer and uploads them to an auction site, marking it ‘for sale’.
How long can she continue to fleece Ken before she is caught out?
