Christmas exit horror for Gail Platt as she gets deadly shock in Coronation Street
Gail Platt (Helen Worth) is set to depart the cobbles of Coronation Street after 50 years, but not before she gets an unexpected visitor…
This year, Gail shocked her family by revealing that she had been secretly meeting up with Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) after they shared a holiday romance in Thailand.
After the pair decided to make their relationship official, things took a terrifying turn when Gail suffered another heart attack.
However, this put things into perspective for them both, and once Gail pulled through, she asked Jesse to marry her.
With their wedding scheduled for Christmas Day, the couple continue to face backlash from Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), who refuses to accept Jesse into the fold.
The matriarch is right to be wary of him, given that he has teamed up with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) to hide stolen money from Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).
In upcoming scenes, he informs David that he has successfully laundered the money, but when Gail overhears them he panics and makes out he has booked them a honeymoon in the Maldives.
However, Audrey soon rains on Gail’s parade when she decides she can no longer bite her tongue, and tells her that if she goes through with the wedding, she’ll never see her again.
How will Gail react to Audrey’s ultimatum?
The next day, things are tense between the Platts at Gail and Jesse’s leaving party, as Audrey refuses to give her blessing for the wedding.
In a bid to stop the marriage going ahead, Audrey takes desperate measures by telling Gail that David and Jesse have been up to no good behind her back.
Will Audrey succeed in stopping the wedding?
Upset and exhausted, Gail later drifts in and out of a restless sleep on the sofa, and is left shocked when she gets a surprise visitor – but will they be able to help her decide what to do?
Richard killed a number of locals, including his ex-wife, businessman Duggie Ferguson (John Bowe) and hairdresser Maxine Peacock (Tracy Shaw) as well as attempting to murder stalwart Emily Bishop (Eileen Derbyshire).
If that wasn’t enough, he tormented Audrey and then bundled Gail and her children into a car, before plunging the vehicle into icy waters.
As Christmas Day dawns, will Gail leave Weatherfield a married woman or bid farewell to her feuding family alone?
