Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) finds himself caught up in the drama with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona (Julia Goulding) over Christmas in Coronation Street.

Shona and David’s relationship was put under strain when Shona’s son Clayton returned to their lives.

With the characters continuously clashing over this and the situation with Max (Paddy Bever) and Lauren (Cait Fitton), Shona put even more distance between her and David by sleeping with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

‘I think it’s out of pure revenge’, star Julia Goulding said.

‘I don’t think she’s necessarily been lusting after Kit, I don’t think he’s crossed her radar, she’s probably served him a couple of times in Roy’s Rolls, she’s very loyal – so it’s absolute revenge!

‘From David’s point of view I get it, but I’m not coming from his point of view, I’m coming from mine and he’s gaslit her, he’s been using her brain injury against her! This is not the 1950s, a woman is allowed to make her own decisions, not have her husband hide her mail from her. I definitely think he’s in the wrong.’

On Christmas morning in Weatherfield, the difficult dynamic continues when David realises the aftershave he found in Shona’s bag wasn’t a gift for him.

When Adam later pops by wreaking of aftershave, David is even more suspicious when he explains the bottle was a Christmas present.

Searching for answers, David plies Adam with whiskey, hoping he’ll spill the truth when he’s drunk.

When Shona and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) arrive, they find David accusing Adam of sleeping with Shona behind his back.

Just as a row ensues, Adam ends up falling down the stairs.

But when David finds out the truth about Shona’s betrayal, just how will he get his revenge?
