Coronation Street aired awkward scenes on Monday night, as a character made a sudden return after months away.

It led to drama for more than one resident, as a betrayal left one character taking revenge. Tommy Orpington returned to Weatherfield in the latest episode, without new flame Tracy Barlow.

He was attending a ceremony for the unveiling of his special bust, but the famous footballer wasn’t welcomed by everyone. Steve McDonald is still heartbroken over his football idol stealing his wife.

Tracy cheated on Steve with Tommy before leaving the street to be with him abroad. With Tracy a no-show, Steve was left gutted when Tommy was celebrated, and his best mate Tim Metcalfe went along for the event.

With the help of new love interest Cassie Plummer, Steve decided to take action in the ultimate payback against Tommy. Heading to the event, Steve made it clear there were hard feelings between him and Tommy as he ruined the big event.

Steve and Cassie were seen fleeing the scene with the bust, replacing it with a football with a face drawn on it in pen. Tommy was shocked by this as attendees wondered what had happened – but will Steve end up in trouble?

it comes amid reports that Tracy will soon be back in Weatherfield after months away from the famous cobbles, after an apparent exit. It has been reported that Kate Ford will be making a return to the ITV soap soon as she is back filming.

Sources have claimed Tracy will be back on the Cobbles very soon, but in a twist it will only be for one week, before she returns again properly later in the year. Her storyline is being kept under wraps but she will no doubt have some Barlow family drama to deal with.

“Tracy’s a Corrie institution all on her own – she will never be far from the cobbles even when she lives halfway across the world. She makes a brief trip back for a week later this summer to visit her family and deal with some Barlow family drama,” a source told The Sun.
