Coronation Street baffled after spotting major blunder during unexpected exit

Coronation Street has confirmed that school bully Mason will be sentenced to prison for threatening someone with a knife, but fans were left confused after spotting one blunder

Coronation Street fans were left scratching their heads after spotting several major blunders as Mason Radcliffe (played by Luca Toolan) was sentenced.

Over the past few months, ITV fans have been gripped to their screens as the high school bully tormented Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall). But the youngster wasn’t the only pupil who was hounded by Mason after he incorporated Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyney) into his gang.

On Monday (April 8), viewers finally watched the bad boy attend court to receive his sentence after wreaking havoc on student’s lives for months. In the lead up to his court case, Mason tried to get Dylan to lie about him carrying and threatening Liam with a knife.

Initially, Dylan caved under Mason’s glare and lied on his behalf, but in a dramatic turn of events, the student decided to tell the truth about what really happened. And it looks like an exit is on the cards for the young teenager as the judge handed Mason a custodial sentence.

But as the dramatic scenes played out on screen, many viewers were left confused by several details on the show. Many picked up on the strange reason as to why bot Dylan and Liam testified over a video link before returning to the court to watch the rest of the session play out.

It didn’t take long before viewers flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their confusion online. One user penned: “I’ve never been to court, but I’m a bit confused as to why both Liam and Dylan were questioned via video link, only to then be in the courtroom with Mason anyway? Another agreed: “I’m no legal eagle, but what’s the point in giving evidence on a video link and then putting them in the same room as Mason? #Corrie.” A third echoed: “Why would Liam give evidence by video link and then be sat in the court room? #corrie.”

Meanwhile, other viewers were left questioning why Mason’s family weren’t there to support their son in court. One user penned: “How come the only person supporting Mason in court was a mate and not his family? Or are they all in jail too? #Corrie.”

Another agreed: “How comes mad Mason’s dad wasn’t at court? I was expecting a right gangster and a blond tarty gobby side piece #Corrie.” A third joked: “#corrie Clearly giant Mason’s giant family family couldn’t fit in the court room. Unless they’re all in prison.”

Speaking about the dark storylines he filmed, Mason star Luca insisted him, Liam and Charlie are best friends in real life. He told fans: “I think because I’m so close with Liam and Charlie, it’s a lot easier.

“If I wasn’t really close with them and I didn’t spend as much time with them, I’d probably find it more difficult. But because we have that bond and trust each other so much, it’s a lot easier.”

Luca is still hopeful that one day, the soap will explore why Mason is the way he is. He added: “He’s a very angry and disturbed soul. People are like that for reasons.

“Hopefully in the future, we might be able to explore a bit more of why he’s become the way he’s become. But the advice I would give to him is go to therapy and get the help he needs.”
