Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks teased a 'massive stunt' on the way involving David Platt, with her teasing he could lose things 'he holds dear' amid reports of a fire
There could be some sad deaths on the way on Coronation Street, with soap boss Kate Brooks appearing to break her silence on the looming fire.
A devastating explosion is reportedly set to destroy the Platts’ home, with characters’ lives on the line. Pictures from filming showed the house boarded up, as other images showed filming for a night shoot taking place with the house reportedly catching alight.
It’s now teased it could be linked to David Platt stealing money from Damon Hay and Harvey Gaskell. He’s already been threatened over this by the Radcliffe brothers, but will he pay the ultimate price for crossing Harvey?
A “massive stunt” is on the cards according to Kate, while she didn’t reveal what the stunt was – only that it airs in February. She gave no details on who is involved other than David, while she hinted his loved ones would be caught up in it too.
It comes after the reports weeks earlier that a fire would hit the street, before the images confirmed said blaze would hit the Platts’ house. This is no doubt the big stunt Kate is talking about given it’s linked to David and will air around the time she said.
The question is, does anyone die in the blaze? Kate heavily teased this could be the case, as she revealed David would suffer a loss or two.

She told The Mirror and other press that the stunt and David’s actions would see him lose things “he holds dearly”, and he would face a “downfall”. So might one of his children Max or Lily perish? Could his wife Shona, or another family member, lose their life?
Kate told us: “The story we’re telling is one of a very desperate David, trying to protect his family and keep Harvey and his goons at bay. He is struggling to navigate that, and struggling to pay back this big debt he has.
“He’s struggling to protect his family. It all comes to a massive head in early February, when we play a massive stunt that has huge consequences for David. So, in trying to protect everyone and do the right thing, he ends up losing quite a few things that he holds dear.
“So, a real journey for David. He’s well-intentioned, but he fails, messes up and makes mistakes, and there’s massive consequences not only for his own family, but for the wider community as well. Somebody does get embroiled in David’s downfall, which is quite unexpected.”
