A Coronation Street fan has managed to spot a key piece of information that confirms the return of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

Way back in February of this year, Lauren suddenly disappeared after telling Roy (David Neilson) she wanted to leave Weatherfield to start her life again.

What followed next was a very long and complicated investigation into Lauren’s disappearance. DS Swain (Vicky Myers) and her team made the assumption she had been murdered, and then wrongly arrested Roy for the crime.

In May, viewers finally discovered the truth – to some extent – about Lauren’s vanishing, as it was confirmed solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) was responsible for attacking her.

While many have been under the impression Joel killed Lauren during that brutal attack, it’s now been teased the young character will return to Weatherfield after confirmation she is actually alive.

In Monday’s (July 8) episode of the ITV soap – which is already available to view on ITVX – Lauren’s fate was confirmed when she made her way to the hospital to see an unwell Roy.

In an update on the TV guide from ITVX, a piece of programme information for the episode being broadcasted on July 19 also details that Lauren will be seen on the cobbles again.

Once a Corrie fan noticed this development, they took to social media to share it. It reads: ‘Lauren apologises to Roy but gets a hostile reception from Carla.’

Elsewhere in this storyline, we were recently introduced to a new character called Betsy (Sydney Martin).

After Joel approached Sabrina (Luana Santos) and tried to pour alcohol into her coffee, Betsy found her friend and told her Joel was definitely bad news.

Sussing his character out immediately, Betsy then approached Joel on the cobbles and asked for money to keep his secret quiet.

A few days later, it was then revealed Betsy is the daughter of Lisa aka, DS Swain.

‘She’s had a brief interaction with Joel who she kind of sniffs out straight way,’ Sydney told us. ‘She’s like, “No, you’re not good news!’

‘But whether she knows the full extent [of what he’s capable of], I wouldn’t know. She definitely knows that he’s not everything he makes out to be, this perfect lawyer image. She doesn’t believe that for a second.

‘She absolutely does not trust Joel. Even the little bit of her we’ve seen, the dirty looks. She’s been exposed to probably a lot at quite a young age. Maybe it’s her naivety or an instinct, she knows off the back that he’s not good news.’

So perhaps her mum being a detective has rubbed off on Betsy. But that’s not to say that she would always use the power of law for good…

Sydney smiled: ‘It’s a weird one because with her mum’s job, we know that she had two mums, one of whom she lost when she was on duty.

‘I think she’s got a disrespect for the law but she definitely has an investigative root in her. It’s kind of for her own gain, whether she can get money or an opportunity, she’ll do anything to get that. She wants the power!’
