Coronation Street character returns amid terrible health news and kidnap
There’s a turbulent week ahead in Coronation Street with a scary diagnosis,a dramatic kidnap and a returning face causing trauma.
Abi Webster (Sally Carman) is shocked when Kevin (Michael le Vell) confides that he has testicular cancer.
But as she tries to deal with the news, she enters into a further ordeal as she sees Seb’s body.
Meanwhile, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) knows his family is in danger and things get serious when Shona (Julia Goulding) is kidnapped.
And Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) is distracting Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) while daughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is in a worrying situation with a face from the past.
There is no episode on Friday January 31.
Monday January 27
Shona leaves the house, unaware that a man in a van is watching her as the van drives off at high speed.
Shona’s mobile phone lies in the gutter. In the back of the van, Shona bangs on doors and shouts for help, but nobody hears her. David calls in the café and is shocked to discover Shona didn’t show up for work.
David calls at the police station in a panic and tells Kit that first the dog was run over and now Shona has gone missing and he suspects Harvey Gaskell is behind it.
David asserts that he’ll find somewhere else to stay as Harvey’s more likely to come after him. David calls at Nick’s flat and admits that unless he can come up with the money for Harvey, his whole family is in danger.
At No.1, Cassie makes the tea and slips some antihistamine into Ken’s cup. Adam and Alya call at No.1 to find Ken looking decidedly peaky. Ken opens his bank account and is confused to see some unusual transactions.
Tracy takes a look at the bill and confronts Cassie with a transaction for hair products and accuses her of stealing from Ken.
Believing her to be innocent Ken asks Cassie if she’d consider moving into No.1 full-time, Cassie’s delighted and accepts immediately.
A mortified Leanne is forced to wear a high vis jacket and pick up litter whilst having to deal with teenagers heckling her.
Annoyed, she storms into the bistro and demands Toyah pours her a glass of champagne which is where Nick finds her when he arrives with Sam.
When Kevin reveals that he’s got testicular cancer, Dev’s shocked Abi’s worried sick, but does her best to appear positive.
Abi tells Nina how Mason’s death has reignited her grief over Seb and now she’s worried about Kevin’s health too.
Abi looks at her reflection in the window and sees Seb staring back at her. Making out she’s tired, Abi heads to bed leaving Kevin concerned.
At No.5, Gemma is delighted when Chesney tells her that he’s paid off the last of their bills with Les’s compo money and booked them a week in Alicante. Gemma squeals with delight.
In the Rovers, Dev and Bernie finally announce their engagement. Aadi, Asha, Chesney, Gemma and Summer are delighted for them and Chesney raises a toast. But later back at home the police arrive.
Wednesday January 29
On the way to collect Kevin from his ultra sound with Alfie in the car Abi has another panic attack at the recent as she sees the place where Mason died.
Abi climbs out of the car transfixed on the spot. She imagines she sees herself cradling Seb’s body. Overwhelmed by terror and guilt, she sprints away. Kevin is surprised to find Debbie not Abi in the waiting room. Kevin returns home to find Abi curled up on the sofa.
He tells her that he’ll get his scan results in a couple of weeks. When Kevin offers to pick up Alfie from the childminder, Abi looks at him aghast. Debbie shares her concerns over Abi’s mental state with Ronnie and how she’s worried for Alfie’s safety.
Abi is shocked to find Kevin seated at the table with a social worker. A furious Abi is sure that Debbie reported her.
Realising that the only way he can raise the cash to pay Harvey back is to get rid of the house. David meets up with Andy who he met in prison and tells him he desperately needs a favour.
When Ken reveals that Cassie will be moving in, Steve and Amy are horrified. When Cassie explains to Evelyn that she’s moving in with Ken because he needs round the clock care, Evelyn is left mildly suspicious.
As Chesney heads off for the police station to be interviewed, Gemma masks her anxiety.
Steve finds a downcast Leanne brooding over a cup of tea in the café and invites her to pop over to No.1 later for a drink. As Amy gets ready to leave for a party, she warns Steve to keep his misgivings about Cassie to himself or he might find himself homeless.
Amy arrives at the party venue and is shocked to come face to face with Aaron’s Dad, Eric. At No.1, Steve and Leanne reminisce over a bottle of wine and Steve fails to notice when his phone vibrates with an urgent message from Amy.
At No.1, Steve assures Leanne that she means the world to Sam and that bond will never be broken. When Leanne leans in and kisses him, Steve kisses her back passionately.
