Coronation Street confirms Daisy’s exit story in early ITVX release – as the father of her baby is declared

Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) has a lot on her mind in Coronation Street currently. She’s pregnant, with the added complication that the father could be Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) or Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). And she owes Carla Connor (Alison King) a lot of money.

It’s not surprising she’s thinking of leaving Weatherfield.

Daisy’s money worries stem from when Daisy stole a huge sum from Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) to buy the Rovers. She discovered the money in Stephen’s bank account after his death and decided to keep it, but it was money he’d taken from Carla.

When Carla found out what Daisy had done she was obviously fuming, but Ryan (Ryan Prescott) persuaded her not to tell the police – and she eventually agreed that Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy would pay the money back to her.

Now, in the wake of Carla having to pay for her own kidney transplant, Ryan informed Daisy that Carla would be needing the money back sooner rather than later.

Money worries added to the stress she’s already under, as she currently has two men who are waiting to find out whether they’re about to become a father.

The complicated situation arose after Daisy slept with her ex and the man she truly loves, Daniel Osbourne. She also slept with Kit Green, who was her on/off boyfriend at the time – both in a short space of time.

So when she found out she was pregnant, she had no idea which of them could be the father. Rather than keep this news to herself, she blurted it out in front of a packed Rovers, mainly to hurt Daniel who’d recently become engaged to Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).

Daisy has done the sensible thing by taking a DNA test, but although she got the results she hasn’t shared them with either of the potential daddies. In fact she deleted the email, telling Jenny that the result would remain a secret.

The two men involved are very keen for it not to be a secret and in this episode keep asking Daisy if she’d had the results back yet – to which she replies that she hasn’t and they’ll be the first to know when she does.

In her heart of hearts, Daisy still loves Daniel and you’d think she’d be pleased that, with Bethany off the scene, he’s now paying her more attention. But her fear is that he’s only really interested in the baby and not in her.

‘Daisy always has, and always will be in love with Daniel and has always been holding on to hope that they will get back together. I don’t think she could ever fully move on from him,’ Charlotte Jordan told us.

So when she tells Jenny she’s thinking of moving away, Jenny asks her whether it’s because she knows who the father of the baby is. And although Daisy’s answer is typically evasive, Jenny thinks she can read between the lines of what she is actually saying.

And, armed with what she thinks is a solid piece of intel, Jenny sits one of the prospective dads down for a serious chat about Daisy’s future. And when he asks outright if he’s the father of Daisy’s baby, Jenny’s face tells him everything he needs to know.
