Coronation Street is lining up more emotional scenes for Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), as they prepare to renew their wedding vows in a church.

The couple, as viewers know, got married last year in what were truly historic and groundbreaking scenes, proving to be the first same sex wedding in the ITV soap’s six decades on air.

The duo tied the knot during a ceremony at the Bistro, but Paul then threw a huge surprise on Billy afterwards about getting married in a church.

Paul, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year, confirmed that Billy’s vicar friend had agreed to marry them in a church in secret.

They made their way over and took part in another ceremony, with Billy tearful over his dream finally becoming a reality.

But it appears that the two characters will renew their vows in upcoming scenes, with actors Daniel Brocklebank and Peter Ash spotted filming scenes on location at a church.

Paul is pictured smiling as he stares at his wedding ring.

The much-loved character received his diagnosis of MND last year and he subsequently confided in Billy, with the two tying the knot soon afterwards.

Paul’s greatest fear has been the knowledge that he’ll lose control of his bodilyy functions and will be unable to do anything for himself.

He’s also struggled with the dependancy he’s had to place on carers and his husband Billy.

Knowing that one of the things that would soon become a problem would be losing the ability to speak, Paul obtained some equipment that could replicate his voice.

In addition to his condition worsening, Paul has also had to come to terms with the return of his estranged dad and will be left knocked for six when he discovers that he’s got a secret sibling he knew nothing about.
