Coronation Street ‘confirms’ Joel’s comeuppance as Dee-Dee demands the truth in huge breakthrough

The net starts closing in on evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill) in Coronation Street next week, as his fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) makes a huge discovery.

As viewers will know, Joel was responsible for the attack on Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), which left police believing that she was dead. He is also the father of her newborn baby, having groomed her.

Dee-Dee has grown suspicious of Joel after finding a notification on his laptop revealing he’d travelled to Belfast, before learning from his ex-wife Emily (Ellena Vincent) that he is still paying rent on his old flat.

In scenes set to air next week, Dee-Dee’s detective work continues, as she remains convinced Joel is having an affair.

She Googles the jewellers where Joel made out he bought a charm bracelet for daughter Maeve, and as she scores other items worth £300, she’s stunned by what she finds.

Later, she heads to visit Lauren, who is still in hospital after prematurely giving birth to her and Joel’s baby.

When Lauren reveals that she’ll soon be moving to Belfast, Dee-Dee covers her shock, knowing that is where Joel likely travelled to.

Dee-Dee later innocently points out the coincidence to Joel, but he gives nothing away. But Dee-Dee refuses to give up in her pursuit of the truth, and starts following Joel – what will she uncover next?

Revealing how Dee-Dee sets out on her journey of discovery, actress Channique Sterling-Brown says: ‘She is really excited for the wedding and buys a charm for Maeve to wear, she’s going to be her stepdaughter after all and wants to build bridges with Joel’s ex, Emily.

‘When she attempts to build bridges with Emily, it’s revealed that Joel never actually bought Maeve a bracelet, and also gets a bit of a warning from Emily which is entirely different to what she said the first time they met.

‘Over the next couple of weeks, we are going to see Joel really manipulating Dee-Dee and that’s when she becomes quite aware,’ she teases.

‘I think Dee-Dee is already seeing things aren’t quite right and the bracelet is the catalyst for what happens next.’
