Coronation Street confirms major return for much-loved character
Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) are in for a pleasant surprise next week in Coronation Street as Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) returns home.
Summer has been away from Weatherfield over the past few months getting settled into life at a university in Boston, America.
Shortly after Summer was offered this placement, she felt apprehensive about leaving and wanted to stay and care for Paul, who has motor neurone disease.
Sitting down for a chat, Paul and Billy told Summer that she should accept the uni placement and live her life, because Paul would be well-looked after by other members of his family while she’s away.
Feeling reassured, Summer waved her goodbyes to the cobbles but next week – she’s back.
Coming up, Billy and Paul attend another appointment with the MND nurse who tells them that as Paul’s weakened neck muscles get worse, he’ll soon reach a point where he cannot use the stair lift to the flat.
Later in the week, the Eyegaze specialist arrives to see Paul. This healthcare professional is someone who can install a special eye tracking camera mounted below Paul’s computer, so he can control it with his eyes.
When Summer returns from the USA, she tells Paul and Billy that she’s got a new boyfriend, Felix, and he’s waiting to meet them in the Rovers.
Just as Billy and Paul are about to leave, Paul takes a tumble down the stairs.
As Paul recovers, Todd (Gareth Pierce) turns up and Summer arrives with Felix.
How will the meeting go?
