Coronation Street ‘confirms’ the end of major couple as divorce proceedings are on the table

There’s heartbreak ahead in Coronation Street as one of the show’s longest-running couples, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and Tracy Barlow’s (Kate Ford) relationship, is set to come to a definitive end.

Steve takes the leap and serves Tracy with divorce papers and suggests she check over them, spelling out that this could really be the end for the turbulent couple.

But will an amicable end be possible as Tracy discovers Steve has moved on so quickly as he cosies up with Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) …

After months of distance and drama, Steve decides it’s time for the pair to officially divorce. He takes the papers to Tracy and advises her to check that everything is in order. When the pair get talking, Steve makes out that he’s not doing anything for his birthday.

Tracy decides to take matters into her own hands and forms a plan to surprise him.

However, Cassie has made plans of her own to mark Steve’s day. As she pulls him in for a kiss, he gets a text from Tracy telling him they need to discuss the divorce papers and urges him to meet her in the pub.

Steve heads to the pub to meet Tracy, but is blindsided when he realises he’s been summoned under false pretences to have birthday drinks, not to discuss divorce papers.

When Steve makes excuses and leaves, Tracy follows him, but how will she react to seeing him running home to Cassie?

The romance is solidified when Steve decides to plant a kiss on Cassie in the Rover’s to make it clear to everyone they are an item, and he doesn’t care who knows.

But how will Tracy take this news, and is she going to cause trouble for the new lovebirds?
