The couple have five children to feed and clothe which is pretty costly, but last month the boiler at Number 5 broke, putting further financial pressure on them.

As Gemma moaned about her private landlord not helping them, solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) happened to be nearby and advised her fellow resident that she had rights, as long as they were not in any arrears and she had paid the rent on time.

She advised Gemma that she could report her landlord to the council for failing to do repairs.

Gemma later sent angry messages to her landlord, before he arrived with a handyman to fix the boiler.

But after making it clear how offended he was by Gemma’s messages, he then served the pair a section 21 eviction notice and revealed that they had two months to vacate the premises.

Now in upcoming Coronation Street spoilers, a despondent Gemma and Chesney worry about their looming eviction.

Gemma’s mum Bernie calls at No.5 and tells Gemma that the kids are welcome to stay with her while she and Chesney sort out somewhere to live.

Will the couple be able to find a new home? Or will they end up on the streets without their kids?

The couple’s financial woes have been a talking point among Coronation Street viewers, with one even going so far as to work out exactly how much money they would have each month.

The painstaking research involved finding a similar house to Number 5 in Salford to find out its rental costs, as well as figuring out the family’s Universal Credit and benefits allowances.

They then calculated Gemma and Chesney’s earnings from their jobs, as well as their typical monthly outgoings.

They concluded: “I’ve estimated as best I can. Have not added anything for holidays or savings and in *theory* they would have approx £300 pcm available to put towards those things.”

Other Corrie fans were quick to praise the work, with one writing: “Just love that you’ve spent the time to do this! I’ve wondered how anyone in their situation would really cope.

“It does bug me though that some of Gemma and Bernie’s clothes look costly ( just some of the individual style things) but I suppose charity shop?”

Another commented: “This is actually brilliant and I applaud the work gone into it. They can’t be that on their a**e if they’ve got 300 extra each month & Ches is always getting a free lunch from work.”
