Jack P. Shepherd has hinted at a vengeful twist as David Platt’s wife Shona Platt has an affair with Kit Green in Coronation Street.
Fans were left stunned last week when the truth about Shona’s (Julia Goulding) tryst with Kit (Jacob Roberts) was exposed following her discovery of David’s deceitful behaviour.
Fans are well-acquainted with David’s history of gaslighting and lying to Shona in an effort to keep her away from her son Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison), who reached out from prison earlier this year.
Clayton is infamously remembered as the delinquent who killed David’s previous wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) back in 2016. A furious Shona learned about David’s lies, leading to a fiery confrontation which concluded with Shona’s arrest for an earlier assault on a prison governor.
Shona’s subsequent release after being interrogated by Kit didn’t lead her home but to a night out on the town instead. As the Friday episode (December 6) revealed, she was harboring a significant secret that turned out to be her overnight escapade with Kit.
Shepherd has voiced thoughts on what retaliation David might concoct against Kit once he discovers the betrayal. In a chat with Plymouth Live, Jack disclosed insights into David’s tendency towards extreme measures under duress, saying: “He always cracks under pressure.

“He looks like he’s got it together and then he does something extreme. It always seems like he’s completely normal, he’s just having a laugh.”, reports Plymouth Live.

He remarked: “Then, as soon as something threatens his family, he goes hell-bent psycho. I like playing that, it means I can dip in and out of the two, and neither are out of character.”

Discussing David’s potential reaction to an affair revelation, he speculated: “I think he will react in a way where he’ll have to try and get his own back somehow. And he’ll have to try and do it in a clever way”.

“He won’t be able to take him on physically, it will have to be something sort of mentally I’d have thought. He’ll do something to f**k his life up somehow,” he further added.
On his character’s complex relationship with Shona, he expressed: “I think he’s kind of p****d off with himself that he fell in love with her in the first place because she’s the mother of the boy that killed his wife. It’s the sleeping giant that won’t go away.”
