Coronation Street death ‘sealed’ as Dee-Dee Bailey figures out truth about Joel

Corrie viewers are fearing the worst for Dee-Dee Bailey after she rumbled what Joel had been up to behind her back

All hell could be breaking loose in Coronation Street as the penny finally dropped for Dee-Dee Bailey.

After starting to catch on to her fiance Joel Deering (played by Calum Lill), the fan favourite portrayed by Channique Sterling-Brown continued her investigation work, only to find out this Monday, August 19, that her beau was the father of Lauren Bolton’s baby.

Both women talked things out as Dee-Dee learned the full truth about the duty solicitor, blissfully unaware that Joel was listening to their emotional conversation all along. But as Dee-Dee listened to Lauren (Cait Fitton) and her version of events, ITV viewers at home were concerned that she may be in great danger after learning what Joel has done.

Multiple fans took to social media, and more particularly X, otherwise known as Twitter, as they theorised that Joel could retaliate against Dee-Dee, kidnapping her in an effort to keep her on his side. One soap watcher took their theory to the next level as they suggested that DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) could be the one to fly to her rescue.

“Our Dee Dee uncovering the truth, being whacked over the head by Joel, kept captive in a flat for a few weeks, be almost killed just to escape/be rescued by Swain looms”, the TV fan wrote.

Another added: “People thought DeeDee was gonna be distraught when the truth about Joel was gonna come out, but it looks like she’ll be the one to take him down”, while another concerned viewer of the Manchester-based programme chipped in: “Oh dear Dee-Dee watch out love.”

One fan then commented as they warned: “You better not touch either Dee-Dee or Lauren, Joel”, while another chimed in: “Run Dee-Dee, Run!” A pessimistic viewer wrote: “Dee-Dee is putting herself at serious risk with her cleverness tonight – not from Joel, but the writers. They can’t afford to have someone this smart living on Coronation Street.”

After finding out about Joel’s connection to Lauren, Dee-Dee was the one to figure out Joel had been trying to get rid of both Lauren and her baby Frankie, cementing his status as one of Corrie’s most vile villains. Several theories have circulated on social media about Joel’s downfall as Calum Lill was confirmed to be on his way out of Weatherfield in the upcoming months.

“Calum has made a huge impact as Joel over the last year but he always knew it would be for a fixed term”, a source told The Sun. Calum’s last scenes in the Manchester-based programme are due to air in the coming months as the insider continued: “He’s been great playing Joel but all good soap villains must get their comeuppance and Joel’s is coming very soon.”

“He’s already landed his first job after the show and so he’ll be finished in time to start rehearsals for that. But on-screen Joel has no idea what’s coming for him as his dark secrets start to be exposed”, the source told the publication.

Calum’s next job will be on the stage of Bournemouth’s Pavilion Theatre as the actor takes on another villainous role. He’s due to portray Fleshcreep in the panto production of Jack and the Beanstalk from December 7, 2024, to January 5, 2025.

But his storyline with Cait Fitton’s Lauren may still last a while as the wayward teen reported Joel to DS Swain with Dee-Dee’s support, only for him to pre-emptively strike back with his own claim she had taken abortion pills of her own will.
