The Platt family is in crisis in Coronation Street next week – Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has been navigating her changed life as she recovers in hospital but, a day after she finally comes home, another medical nightmare unfolds.

With David (Jack P Shepherd) fuming at Gail (Helen Worth) for putting the clan’s home up for sale, hammered home by a viewing from Carla Connor (Alison King) which infuriates him further.

Tensions mount and Gail then collapses with a suspected heart attack. As she is rushed to hospital, blame flies, secrets bubble and things are going to get a lot more complicated.

Another family feeling the pressure is Winter-Browns. With Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) away, Chesney (Sam Aston) struggles to juggle work and family life, and soon makes a mistake that leaves him in a panic.

And moods are still very much on edge following Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) death, especially on the day of his funeral.

Sarah collects Bethany from hospital and rejects a call from an unknown number as Bethany breaks down in tears. In the prison a frustrated Damon is clearly trying to get through to her.

Sarah settles Bethany at the flat before heading out to do some food shopping. Bethany hears the door open but is shocked to see it’s not her mum but an intruder in a balaclava.

Lauren gives Dee-Dee flowers as thanks for offering her and Frankie a home. Michael praises Dee-Dee for letting them move in. Lauren’s social worker calls at Dee-Dee’s flat for a chat, but when Dee-Dee starts to make tea and finds an old love note from Joel in the cupboard, she’s upset and dashes out.

As Leanne and Nick divide up their belongings, Sam struggles to hide his upset. Remembering Oliver, Leanne gets emotional about leaving the flat. Nick apologises for how things have ended between them.

Dev orders Chesney to complete a deep-clean of the kebab shop by Friday. Gemma returns to work at the Rovers but struggles to cope.

Kit tells her she came back to work too soon, and offers her the use of a friend’s cottage in the Lake District.

In the salon, Audrey and David discuss Gail and reckon she’s a fool to trust Jesse.

As Jesse hunts for Lilly’s bicycle pump in the cupboard, he is rocked by what he finds but his curiosity evaporates at the sight of Gail breathing unsteadily and clutching her arm and phones an ambulance.

David, Sarah and Nick arrive on the street as Gail is taken away in an ambulance and David and Sarah blame themselves for starting the row with Jesse.

After his discovery under the stairs, Jesse fishes for a confession from David.

With Gemma off in the Lakes, Chesney gets back from the kebab shop to take Joseph to the airport for his skiing trip. He discovers he has missed messages about the flight being brought forward.

Meanwhile manning the counter at Prima Doner for Chesney, a clueless Kirk cheerily greets a customer, unaware that he’s a health inspector.

As Toyah prepares to move into her digs, Nick offers to drive her and her stuff there.

To take her mind off Joel’s funeral taking place today, Lauren extends an olive branch to Bobby by inviting him to visit Frankie in hospital.

In the baby unit, Lauren’s taken aback when Max confesses he does have feelings for her but admits she feels the same. In the café, Kit’s suspicious of Dee-Dee’s abstracted behaviour. Kit taps away loudly on his laptop in the Rovers’ back room.

Irritated, Daisy says she won’t miss the noise when he moves out.  Enjoying the banter, Kit reckons she’ll miss other things.
