Coronation Street fans baffled as they spot Bernie plot hole after car gets towed away
Fans of Coronation Street were scratching their heads on Monday night (May 20), after they were made aware that Bernie Winter owned a car but viewers have never seen her drive
Coronation Street viewers were left confused as they were completely unaware Bernie Winter owns a car.
On Monday night’s visit to the cobbles, Bernie was going through turmoil after she discovered her car had been towed. Pleading with a police officer to hopefully release the vehicle, she was told her MOT had expired and she would have to pay a hefty fine.
But as her day went from bad to worst, fans were not aware that Bernie was a driver and that she owned a motor. Heading over to X formerly known as Twitter fans shared their confusion.
One avid viewer said: “I don’t remember Bernie mentioning she had a car.” Another said: “So Gemma, Ches, invisible quads and Bernie haven’t got a pot to p**s in, but Bernie has a car that we’ve never seen her in/drive or mention?”
A third viewer chimed in and wrote: “To be honest I didn’t think Bernie could drive and definitely didn’t know she had a car.” Another added: “The fact Bernie has never had a car till this episode.”
An additional viewer shared their confusion and said: “Where’s she suddenly got a car from that we’ve never seen or heard mentioned before…” While another viewer fumed: “Police can hardly come out to a burglary, but yet we’re supposed to believe they’ve made a special trip to confiscate Bernie’s car because it’s not taxed. Corrie has definitely lost the plot.”
Later on in the show, Bernie was faced with heartache as she came to the realisation that Christopher, also known as Kit is her real-life son. When Bernie tried to track down her son who she abandoned almost thirty years ago, he first denied that they were related
But in tonight’s episode, while at the police station trying to sort out her car, Bernie realised that Kit, who works as a detective at the station was in fact her child. But Kit wasn’t too pleased to see Bernie.
As they discussed, why she left him is a child, Bernie tried to explain that she wasn’t able to look after him due to financial and other struggles. But Kit was having none of it and told Bernie to sling her hook.
