Coronation Street fans ‘can’t take this’ as they ‘work out’ what’s wrong with Lisa

There’s concern for Coronation Street detective Lisa Swain, after a recent episode hinted she was unwell.

Viewers picked up on signs the officer might be run down or poorly, in the aftermath of her colleague Craig Tinker’s heartbreaking murder. Viewers noticed her coughing and seeming a little under the weather, with a new spoiler only sparking more concern.

A spoiler obtained from a TV guide and shared online appeared to confirm ongoing scenes will see Carla Connor concerned for her partner Lisa. Lisa’s daughter Betsy Swain will also be in the scenes, with the scenes thought to be airing next month.

Viewers recalled the scenes this week where Lisa did not seem herself and pairing this with the new teaser, they wondered if a new storyline was on the cards. Some fans were worried something might be wrong with Lisa, or that there was something going on she was yet to share.

There’s been nothing from the soap or released spoilers to suggest a big storyline is happening, but spoilers for next month are yet to be released. While nothing has been reported to back up a theory of an illness plot or a mental health focussed storyline, fans are wondering if the death of Craig is taking its toll on Lisa.

The busy detective has had a lot on her plate recently, and her guilt and heartache over Craig’s murder has left her in turmoil. Fans now believe this death is what is causing Lisa to perhaps feel unwell, and it might be linked to the concern of Carla that is yet to air or be explained.

Of course fans who have seen Wednesday’s episode will have seen more on Lisa being under the weather. But the future unexplained scene has sparked fears there’s more to it.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “MORE HOSPITAL SCENES LOOM? LISA IS ILL? CANT TAKE THIS!” Another fan shared: “Is it Lisa being ill? Or does she have some sort of breakdown? What’s going on ? What week is this?”

A third fan posted on X: “I can’t take any more sadness,” as a third fan predicted: “Mental health storyline for Lisa, please, we need to see her getting help, dealing with her grief, and building herself back up.”

As one fan feared: “Oh I’m not liking the sound of this,” another added: “LET HER BE OKAY.”

In terms of theories about what could be happening, one post said: “Current theory: Lisa is diagnosed with either depression or PTSD and begins taking prescribed medication to help, and doesn’t want Betsy to know… Betsy nearly finds the meds = that teaser.”

The comments and theories kept on coming, with one fan wondering if Lisa was set to suffer a breakdown as others believed she would need support after her recent trauma. Others wondered if it was a “physical” illness due to the cough and cold symptoms.
