Coronation Street fans demand ITV to axe ‘bent copper’ Kit Green amid show uproar
Coronation Street viewers are calling for bent copper Kit Green to be written out of the ITV soap as they brand him "manipulative" and "annoying" - but others think he's "unique"
Fans of Coronation Street are absolutely fed up with dodgy Kit Green (played by Jacob Roberts) as they clamour for the producers to “get him off my screen”.
Kit, Bernie Winter’s son (Jane Hazlegrove), has been stirring up quite a storm since his appearance on the street earlier this year. Between tampering with evidence, corruption and blackmail, this copper has shown he’s anything but the upstanding officer he’s supposed to be.
In recent episodes, Kit has also been partly to blame for the crumbling marriage of David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) and his wife Shona (Julia Goulding) after spending a steamy night with her.
Lancs Live reports how viewers saw a seething David confronting Kit over his dubious antics on Monday’s show (December 30).
Later, in a twist of fate, Kit tried to slap cuffs on David. Given his track record of trouble, Corrie fans have had their fill of Kit and are now begging ITV bosses to ditch his character for good.
Taking to X, once known as Twitter, irate viewers vented their frustrations. One fan blasted: “Kit is such a manipulative little s**t get him off my screen!” Another chimed in: “We all know Kit will get his comeuppance eventually. In the meantime, we hate him.”
A third upset viewer asked: “What does Kit actually bring to the show? He doesn’t do any good storylines and he doesn’t even do his job as a police officer!”
While another remarked: “There’s actually people on #here saying they like kit? #WTF because he’s tall? Handsome? Na still doesn’t make him likeable,” showing just how much fans love to loathe the rogue cop.

One baffled viewer shared their confusion, commenting: “I’m baffled as to why they have made Kit the main character and centred everything basically around him since he’s arrived. I want to like him as a character but it’s a struggle.”
Yet there are some fans who see Kit as a breath of fresh air and reckon he’s bringing the entertainment factor to the show. A fan enthused: “Love him or hate him, Kit is one of more interesting characters on this street. Unique too as he actually has a brain! “.
Jacob takes on the role of DC Kit Green in ITV’s Coronation Street. Roberts is a Brit actor known previously for his portrayal of Damon Kinsella in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks from 2017 to 2023.
